‘Thus Spoke the Wind' Trailer Hints at a Vivid, Metaphysical Ride in the Armenian Drama (Exclusive)
Armenian crime drama Thus Spoke the Wind, written and directed by Maria Rigel, will have its world premiere as part of the Proxima competition lineup of the 2025 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF). The independent Armenian production stars Albert Babajanyan, Lusine Avanesyan, and Annika Abrahamyan, with cinematography by Ayrat Yamilov. The film tells the story of a family on the edge of society. Hayk, a withdrawn and aloof child, lives on a farm with his aunt Narine and gets mocked and called strange by others. After a lengthy stay abroad, his mother returns to the farm. 'The locals openly condemn her behavior because she does not follow the rules of society,' reads a plot synopsis. 'Narine, unable to forgive Anahit for the shame brought upon her with her behavior, decides to take revenge.' The movie features local talent, most of whom are not professional actors. That choice reflects the director's attempt to ensure 'authenticity and create a sense of documentary realism,' she explains in a director's statement. The crew consisted of local people and immigrants from the post-Soviet countries. 'The film continues the cultural traditions of Armenian auteur cinema,' Rigel says. 'The documentary style of the film is combined with the bright color poetics of [Soviet filmmaker Sergei] Parajanov's cinema, which reflects the modern world of Armenia, the clash of traditions of the past and present.' She also notes the importance of the music in the film. 'The soundtrack to the film was created by American composer Steve Brand,' known for his ambient music with tribal and ritualistic vibes, the director says. 'His magical music perfectly emphasizes the spirit of modern Armenian aesthetics.' The idea for the film first came to her in 2022 after relocating to Armenia. 'I was deeply moved by this country – its culture, nature, and people. Contemporary Armenia holds within it layers of both the past and the present, coexisting in a constant, unresolved tension, and yet somehow complementing one another,' she recalls. 'Through the story, I wanted to symbolically reflect the clash between the archaicmindset of a traditional society and the quiet rebellion of a younger generation.' The KVIFF description of the film also notes: 'This cryptic, visually and aurally mesmerizing film, viewed through the eyes of a child forced to grow up too soon, is dominated by the all-pervading motif of the wind. Its rustling stirs the tension in a radicalizing conservative society, while its wailing heralds the irreversible consequences of raging human emotion.' Sunil Narine creates history, becomes highest wicket-taker for a single team in men's T20 cricket
New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) veteran spinner Sunil Narine has etched his name into the history books by becoming the highest wicket-taker for a single team in men's T20 cricket. The West Indian all-rounder achieved the milestone during KKR's clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday in Delhi, where he picked up two crucial wickets. With this performance, Narine now has 210 wickets from 198 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders, surpassing England's Samit Patel, who had previously held the record with 208 wickets for Nottinghamshire. The top five on the list now include Narine (210 for KKR), Patel (208 for Nottinghamshire), Chris Wood (199 for Hampshire), Lasith Malinga (195 for Mumbai Indians), and David Payne (193 for Gloucestershire). Narine, who has been with KKR since 2012, has been a cornerstone of the franchise's success over the years, known for his mystery spin, economy rate, and ability to deliver in crunch moments. With this latest feat, he further cements his legacy as one of the greatest bowlers in the T20 format. A hundred from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Heinrich Klaasen and a fifty from Travis Head powered SRH to 278/3 in 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 68th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday. This is the third-highest total by any team in IPL history. Klaasen also registered the fastest hundred of the ongoing IPL in 37 balls. Sunil Narine removed Abhishek Sharma for 32 (16) and Travis Head for 76(40). Narine finished with figures of 2/42 in his four overs. KKR need 279 runs to win. (ANI)

Klaasen ton leads SRH batting show in big win over KKR
New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad's batting fireworks dominated the early half of the tournament before their gung-ho approach came under scrutiny. However, as SRH brought an end to their campaign at the league stage of the IPL, they signed off with a bang again against Kolkata Knight Riders here on Sunday. 'Travi-Shek' combined again to produce magic and Heinrich Klaasen (105*) put a cherry on the top as SRH scored 278/3 – the third highest total in the history of IPL. Interestingly, the Sunrisers now hold the record for the four highest scores in the tournament. Defending champions KKR did not end their season on a good note as they suffered a 110-run defeat in this final game (168 all out in 18.4 overs), finishing seventh with 12 points. SRH finished eighth with 11 points. After electing to bat first, Abhishek Sharma (32) and Travis Head (76) raised a 92-run opening partnership, piling up 72 runs in the Powerplay. Klaasen then scored a breathtaking century – the joint-third fastest in IPL history – that came off just 37 balls. It was a knock laced with nine sixes and seven fours and left KKR needing to complete a steep 279 chase. He had scored a 17-ball 50 before that, his fastest in T20s. Before Klassen's onslaught, Head laid the foundation with a commanding 76. Sunil Narine (2/42) was the pick of the KKR bowlers, having taken out the SRH top-order by dismissing Head and Abhishek. Chasing a mammoth total, Narine started strong with a 16-ball 31. Quinton de Kock though was dismissed early by Eshan Malinga (3/31). It was Jaydev Unadkat (3/24) who was on a roll in the start, dismissing both Narine (31) and captain Ajinkya Rahane (15). The rest of the middle order crumbled soon after as Rinku Singh (9), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (14), Rinku Singh (9) and Andre Russell (0) all walked back without significant damage inflicted. Ramandeep Singh departed for 13. And through the middle-order shakedown was Harsh Dubey who picked up 3/34. Manish Pandey (37) and Harshit Rana (30) tried to add some impetus to the innings but the match was far gone before that. Although the SRH batters had set up the hammering, the bowlers also produced a clinical effort on the way to their big win against KKR.

Digvesh Rathi's coach on ward's skirmishes in IPL 2025 - ‘No need to disrespect anyone'
Sunil Narine's influence on Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Digvesh Rathi is evident. In tucking his bowling hand behind his body, hiding the ball from the batter's view, Rathi emulates his idol, who he observed from close quarters when he was a net bowler with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) two seasons back. 'He'd admired Sunil Narine since he was a kid. Even his Facebook profile picture was Narine's. He was picked as net bowler by KKR. First, he was with Delhi Capitals, then KKR. That's when he closely observed Narine. That's when he started hiding the ball during his run up. His action was orthodox before that. He learnt a lot during that KKR stint,' says Sachin Shukla, Rathi's coach at the Dronacharya Cricket Academy in Delhi's Vivek Vihar. However, Rathi's celebrations after picking a wicket differs vastly from his idol. Where Narine would offer a reticent, muted celebration, Rathi adds a bit of spice with his sign-off. His send-offs to his victims have brought him notoriety in the Indian Premier League 2025, and, now, a one-match suspension for being a three-time offender of the tournament's Code of Conduct. 'You are still new; you cannot talk like that to your seniors. That was wrong and I do not agree with that. You do not have to disrespect anyone,' says Shukla on his ward's skirmish with Sunrisers Hyderabad's Abhishek Sharma, which eventually led to his punishment. The intensity of a must-win clash! 🔥#DigveshRathi dismisses the dangerous #AbhishekSharma, & things get heated right after! 🗣️💢 Is this the breakthrough #LSG needed to turn things around? 🏏 Watch the LIVE action ➡ 👉 #LSGvSRH |… — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) May 19, 2025 He was fined 50 per cent match fee for the incident and suspended for LSG's contest against Gujarat Titans on Thursday. Rathi, still just 25, has enjoyed a rapid change of fortune in the past year. He plied his wares in Delhi's local league cricket until he caught the eye of Sarandeep Singh, a former India international and Delhi state side's coach. Sarandeep was also coaching South Delhi Superstarz in the first edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL). READ | Digvesh Rathi suspended for Gujarat Titans clash after heated exchange with Abhishek Sharma 'I had seen him in the league games in Delhi. So, I knew about him. At the auction table, we made the plan to go for him. He was different because he had never bowled much with the Kookaburra ball. He had not played at such a big level before this. 'The first few matches were not that good. He took some time to understand the situation – how to change your plan in different phases of the game. But he's a quick learner of the game. Within two or three games, he was at his best. He proved a match winner for us, and got a lot of wickets,' says Sarandeep. A call up for Delhi, for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, came close on the heels of his returns of 14 wickets from 10 games in the DPL. He got just two games but those were enough to impress the IPL scouts who watched him play. 'He's very humble. He does not speak too much. He's just concerned about his game. He's not someone who will cause trouble. He's a very disciplined cricketer, and a great learner of the game. If someone suggests something, he will work on it. That's his best quality,' says Sarandeep. Shukla too attests to Rathi's unrelenting work ethic. ' Digvesh Delhi ka ladka hai, zidd hai kuch karne ki. (Digvesh is a Delhi boy and has the stubbornness to achieve something). You barely find boys in Delhi who are this hard working. He was back in Delhi for two days when the tournament was suspended. You would find it hard to believe that he was with me from 1:30pm to 7:30pm on both days. Sirf ball daal raha tha (Bowling was the only thing he did). I said that there will be lots of kids wanting to meet you, that might trouble you in practice. He said, 'that's fine'. He met everyone from the academy that day. That's the kind of person he is,' says Shukla, who has been training Rathi since he was 16. Rathi eased into the LSG side in just his first season. In 12 games so far, he's nabbed 14 wickets at an enviable economy rate of 8.18. His contributions have plugged the gap that might have troubled the side due to the dip in Ravi Bishnoi's form. The leg-spinner has been the Super Giants' strike bowler in the previous seasons and was retained for INR 11 crore for this cycle. However, he's picked just nine wickets this year and conceded at nearly 11 runs an over. But the constant reprimands will go down as a blemish on an otherwise sprightly season for Rathi. 'When I saw it for the first time, even I was surprised. He has to be very careful, and it's not the first time. He has been fined before too. I think the team management needs to speak to him. Form aaj hai, kal nahi hogi (Form is temporary), ups and downs are an inevitable part but he should always be disciplined. I think he will learn, it's his first time,' says Sarandeep. Shukla's advice is similar. He insists that Rathi should maintain his flair, but abide by the rulebook.
