Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation has handed over the Goda Park project to the Nashik Municipal Corporation, 17 months after its inauguration. NMC plans to operate the park through a private agency and expects to reopen it to the public by July.
NMSCDCL developed the Rs 20-crore Goda Park project on the Godavari river's banks near Ramwadi as a part of the river beautification project. The project features children's play areas, an amphitheater, fountain, open gym, rose garden, open restaurant and a floating jetty for boat rides on the Godavari river. It was inaugurated in Dec 2023.
NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri, who took charge last Dec, directed officials to expedite the handover of the Goda Park project from the Smart City Corporation to NMC.
The project was finally handed over to NMC last week. "The smart city corporation has handed over the Goda Park project to NMC. We are now working on managing, operating, and maintaining the project through a private agency that will be deployed shortly," Vivek Bhadane, NMC's garden superintendent, said.
"We are in the process of floating tenders for the deployment of a contractor on an operate, manage and maintain basis for five years.
