Ten private firms in race for Nashik's Rs 100cr optical fibre network project
Nashik: Ten private firms from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune and other cities participated in a pre-bid meeting organised recently by the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (NMSCDCL). These firms have shown interest in the Rs 100 crore optical fibre cable (OFC) project to be implemented by the body in Nashik city and Trimbakeshwar town ahead of upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. In addition, three other firms from Nashik also participated in the meeting. Around 350km of OFC lines, including 300km in Nashik city and 50km in Trimbakeshwar town, are to be laid to help authorities boost digital security and connectivity during the religious conglomeration. NMSCDCL already issued a request for proposal (RFP) for laying the OFC lines, along with installation, testing, commissioning, operations and maintenance. The last date for filing the bid is May 20. "We already floated the RFP for the OFC network project. We also conducted a pre-bid meeting on Friday. Ten private firms from across the country participated. They had some technical queries and also wanted information about the terms and conditions of the project. We provided all the information they wanted," said Sumant More, CEO of NMSCDCL. "We expect to complete the tender process and allot a work order to the eligible private firm so that the work for the project will begin by the end of June. We set the target of laying OFC lines within 15 months from the day of allotting the work order to the private firm concerned," said More. The OFC lines will connect the offices of all authorities, police stations, and hospitals, integrating all the CCTVs through command-and-control centres. This will enable the authorities to implement Internet of Things (IoT)-based safety projects and sensors during the Kumbh Mela to maintain security and manage the huge crowd. Around 1,300 CCTVs have already been installed in Nashik city, while another 3,500 CCTVs are to be installed in view of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. These will be connected through the OFC lines and go online through the command and controlling centres and emergency operations centre.

No water supply in Nashik city on Saturday
Nashik: Taps across the city will go dry on Saturday, May 10, as the Nashik Municipal Corporation and the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd will carry out repair works on major water distribution water will be supplied at low pressure the next day. Supply will be restored to normalcy only by statement released by the water supply department of the civic body stated that there will be no water supplied in all the six divisions of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).The works by the NMSCDCL, under the supervisory control and data acquisition (Scada) system, are in progress at various water treatment plants (WTPs) and elevated water tanks in the city. The works are being carried out to install the Scada system at all the WTPs and other elevated water tanks on Saturday. Hence, there will be no water supplied in the entire 585 MLD of water is being supplied to Nashik city daily. Of this, 80% of the total water supply comes from the Gangapur dam, and the remaining 20% of the water is supplied to the city from Mukane and Darna dams.

Smart city corp gets nod to take up works outside Nashik city
Nashik: Although the smart city mission ended on March 31 this year, the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (NMSCDCL) will undertake works within or outside the city limits. The directorial board (DB) of the NMSCDCL on Friday gave its approval to the smart city corporation's proposal to amend norms to undertake works outside the smart city mission, either within or outside Nashik city. Accordingly, the smart city corporation will be able to get work from other govt organisations. NMSCDCL has already been given work of installing CCTV, in view of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela . Under this project, over 3,500 CCTV cameras will be installed in the city. "As the smart city mission is over, there were guidelines from the entral govt to the corporation to become self-sustainable by using its expertise and providing consultancy services. With this amendment, we will be able to undertake any work outside Nashik city.
