The Sports for All Open Chess Championship, jointly staged by the Qatar Sports for All Federation and the Qatar Chess Association (QCA), concluded at the Association's training centre after six intense rounds of rapid‑play action.
More than 200 players took part in the Championship. India's Pravin Adwait captured the overall title, edging Algeria's Nasreddine Moa. Morocco's Jamal Farhi completed the podium.
Among the domestic honours, Hamad Al Kuwari was named Best Qatari Player and Lian Al Kubaisi Best Qatari Female Player. Fahad Al Mansouri topped the men's U‑20 division, Ibrahim Al Janahi claimed a special award in the U‑16 category, and Mohammed Jarbi emerged as the leading Qatari U‑12 participant.
At the closing ceremony, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation Abdullah Al Dosari, and QCA President Mohammed Al Mudhahka presented medals and cash prizes to the podium winners.
Al Dosari hailed the strong turnout - spanning every age group - as evidence of chess's expanding footprint and reaffirmed the federation's commitment to delivering a 750‑event calendar that brings sport into the daily lives of all residents.
Al Mudhahka praised the smooth organization and spirited play, noting that grassroots initiatives are essential for nurturing young talent and broadening the game's base in Qatar. He thanked players, parents and spectators for their enthusiastic support, underscoring the federation's resolve to sustain and elevate such inclusive, high‑quality events in future editions.
