Over $2.8M raised for Centre County nonprofits
CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — For 14 years, the Centre Gives fundraiser has worked to raise money for nonprofits in Centre County and 2025 was a record-breaking year.
The community came together to raise money for nonprofits, and over 17,000 donations were made. In total, $2,836,970 was raised in 36 hours. Since 2012, over $22.5 million has been invested in local nonprofits, supporting organizations in the areas of arts, animals, education, environment and human services.
'Once again, Centre County has shown what's possible when a community comes together,' Molly Kunkel, President and CEO of Centre Foundation said. 'This record-breaking year reflects the extraordinary generosity of our donors, the steadfast support of our sponsors, and the incredible spirit of collaboration among our nonprofits. Their collective commitment powers the work that strengthens the fabric of our community.'
Centre County educator named as a finalist for Teacher of the Year award
Here are some organizations that were awarded funding:
Centre Volunteers in Medicine works to provide free medical, dental, behavioral and more services to those without insurance or unable to afford insurance. Over 400 people or organizations donated and together they were able to raise $108,349 for the nonprofit.
Centre Wildlife Care is a nonprofit that cares for and rehabilitates wild animals while also providing educational outreach for the community. Each year, they help to care for up to 2,000 wild animals. Over 300 people donated and raised $42,888 for the organization.
The St. Mark Lutheran Church has a food pantry that they use to help people in their community who are struggling with food insecurity. Anyone in need can come to the pantry at any time to receive food. Over 20 unique donors helped raise over $700 for the pantry.
'Year after year, the Centre Gives celebration has become more than a fundraiser—it's a unifying moment for our nonprofit community,' Nathaniel Rasmussen, Centre Foundation's Community Impact Director said. 'It's incredible to see organizations connect, collaborate, and support one another.'
