BPD identifies alleged drunken driver in fatal Union Ave crash
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Police have identified the 19-year-old man who allegedly drove drunk and ran a red light Tuesday in central Bakersfield, resulting in a crash that left one person dead and two others injured.
Nathon Michael Ramirez was the driver of a white BMW that crashed into a Dodge Charger at the intersection of Union and East California avenues, police said Thursday. He remained hospitalized, police said.

Around 11:30 p.m., the northbound BMW crashed into the westbound Dodge, which had a green light, according to police. The BMW then crashed into a fence and caught fire.
The 27-year-old driver of the Dodge, whose name had not been released as of Thursday afternoon, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. A 20-year-old passenger in the BMW suffered serious injuries, according to police, and Ramirez had moderate injuries.
