World Bank Allocates $37.9 Million for National Employment Program in Jordan - Jordan News
The World Bank has disbursed $37.9 million to the National Employment Program in Jordan, out of a total funding of $112 million, representing 33.8%. Another $74.1 million is yet to be disbursed until the program's goals are fully achieved. اضافة اعلان According to an evaluation report by the bank, the project, which was approved on December 17, 2021, aims to support Jordan's efforts to stimulate employment and skill development in the private sector. The main goal of the program is to provide 60,000 job opportunities for Jordanians in the private sector, relying on demand from the private sector, with training provided when needed. The report highlighted that the program has supported over 1,500 companies across all governorates and helped employ more than 46,000 job seekers, 53% of whom are women, and 11% are beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund. Additionally, nearly 24,000 beneficiaries have received on-the-job training through employers. The report also noted that progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goal and overall program implementation is "somewhat satisfactory." It classified the overall risk assessment as "moderate" for the program, which is set to continue until the end of 2025. The report confirmed that 56% of job seekers who received full support for six months were employed six months after the support period ended. The target for the end of this year is 75%. Ministry of Labor spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Zayoud, told "Al-Mamlaka" that the new restructuring of the program includes extending its duration to ensure the continued efforts in providing job opportunities for Jordanians across various sectors. It also aims to continue encouraging employment in the private sector by generating more job opportunities through wage support. Regarding wage support, he mentioned that the restructuring includes continued direct financial support for employees' wages amounting to 150 Jordanian dinars per month for six months, which is distributed as follows: 130 dinars for wage support, 10 dinars for transportation allowances, 10 dinars for social security subscriptions, and an additional 15 dinars for women to encourage their participation in the labor market. He also pointed out that the restructuring aims to expand the targeted groups, which include 35% women and 7% of working-age individuals who are beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund, in addition to individuals with disabilities. He confirmed that the recent increase in the minimum wage from 261 dinars to 290 dinars has been reflected in institutions and companies employing Jordanians through the National Employment Program. 740 Beggars Arrested During February - Jordan News
The Ministry of Social Development revealed on Monday that it had arrested 740 beggars during the month of February, following 412 anti-begging campaigns carried out by the Directorate of Anti-Begging. اضافة اعلان In its report for the month of February, the ministry also stated that it had processed 9,240 cases related to social studies aimed at granting health insurance to poor families, 175 cases for medical treatment exemptions, and 50 cases for settling inheritance rights. The report also highlighted that 50 children were placed in childcare facilities, while 44 children were discharged from these facilities, and 10 children were handed over to foster families. According to the report, the number of juveniles benefiting from the services of the ministry's juvenile care and rehabilitation centers reached 213, with 74 juveniles benefiting from vocational rehabilitation programs. Additionally, 51 working children in violation of labor laws received psychological and social services based on case management methodology, in cooperation with field directorates and partner organizations. The report also mentioned that 9 juveniles received legal assistance. Regarding the general register of associations, the total number of registered and active associations under the existing Associations Law reached 6,118. Seven new associations were registered, while 71 associations requested amendments to their bylaws. Additionally, 28 associations were dissolved, 12 temporary bodies concluded their work, and 11 temporary bodies remain active, with 10 committees having completed their work. Regarding the National Aid Fund's operations, the report stated that 1,795 families benefited from regular and emergency cash aid programs, while a total of 47,611 families received monthly financial assistance. Furthermore, 172 families benefited from the training program, and the response rate to calls received by the fund was 91%.

Social Development distributes prepaid shopping cards to 60,000 underprivileged families
The Ministry of Social Development completed the distribution of 60,000 prepaid shopping cards to 60,000 families benefiting from the National Aid Fund (NAF) and underprivileged families across various regions of the Kingdom. This initiative is part of the Royal makruma, implemented annually on the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah II's birthday and the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. In a press statement on Monday, the ministry confirmed that it had completed the distribution of the cards, each with a purchasing value of JD 100, through 108 distribution centers affiliated with the ministry across the Kingdom. The aim is to enable beneficiary families to secure their needs during the holy month. The ministry explained that the selection of beneficiary families is based on specific criteria and standards that ensure fairness and transparency, relying on a computerized system and the ministry's database. In a related context, the ministry has begun implementing the Royal makruma for beneficiaries of its care homes during the month of Ramadan, benefiting 1,873 individuals. The initiative includes a variety of activities, such as religious, recreational, and social events, in addition to Ramadan iftar meals, the purchase of Eid clothing, holiday sweets, and the distribution of Eid gifts to beneficiaries in care homes and ministry-run residential centers. These include orphans, individuals without family support, persons with disabilities, those seeking protection and care, and juveniles.

Regarding juvenile services, the report stated that 213 juveniles benefited from care and rehabilitation programs at the ministry's centers, while 74 participated in vocational rehabilitation programs. Furthermore, 51 children working in violation of labor laws received psychological and social support through case management, provided by field directorates and psychological support offices in collaboration with partner organizations. Nine juveniles also received legal assistance. Concerning the public registry for associations, the report noted that the total number of registered associations under the current Associations Law reached 6,118. Seven new associations were registered, 71 requested amendments to their charters, 28 were dissolved, and 12 temporary organizations concluded their work. Currently, 11 temporary organizations remain active, and 10 solution committees have completed their tasks. The report from the National Aid Fund revealed that 1,795 families received assistance through regular and emergency cash aid programs, while 47,611 families benefited from monthly financial support. Additionally, 172 families participated in training programs, and the fund achieved a 91 percent response rate to incoming calls.
