The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia joins the global community in marking World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, observed annually on March 24, under this year's theme: 'Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver.' The campaign aims to raise awareness about TB prevention, treatment access, and the disease's health, social, and economic impacts while working to reduce infection rates. World Tuberculosis Day According to the Ministry of Health, TB remains one of the world's deadliest infectious diseases, with 1.5 million deaths and 9.9 million cases reported in 2020 alone. Although global efforts have saved 66 million lives since 2000, TB continues to claim over 4,100 lives daily. In parallel, the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa) is focusing on bovine tuberculosis, a zoonotic disease prioritized in the Kingdom. Through workshops and seminars, Weqaa educates livestock owners and health professionals on detection, prevention, and control measures to combat the disease.
