Lifeguard Ambulance recognizes their EMS professionals with community barbecue
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – This week is National EMS week, recognizing the dedication of emergency medical services professionals. Lifeguard Ambulance has been in Bay County since 2012, providing in-facility transportation for hospital patients and 911 backup assistance for Bay County EMS. They are partnered with Ascension Sacred Heart Bay and HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital. Lifeguard Ambulance EMS employees work 12-hour shifts, handling anywhere from 18 to 25 calls a day. They do it without much appreciation, but employees say there is one way you can show appreciation, and it just takes a few words. Beyond the Brush Benefit event raises funds for mental health in Bay County 'The best thing that people can do is just say thank you. It's something that most of our folks are not used to hearing on a regular basis because our interactions are so short and brief. It's not something we hear a lot. If you do say thank you to a first responder, half the time, they don't know how to respond back to you when you say that because we're just not used to hearing it,' Lifeguard Ambulance operations captain Stewart Eubanks said. Lifeguard Ambulance is wrapping up its EMS week celebrations with a barbecue on professionals from the entire community were invited to come out and eat. Annual picnic held to thank first responders during National EMS Week
This week is National EMS Week, a time to thank our first responders. UPMC Hamot is doing its part in showing gratitude for emergency care practitioners with a free meal. 'Seeds of Hope' event aims to raise awareness on women's health research Hamot hosted their annual EMS picnic, where all local and regional volunteer and professional providers were invited for lunch. A UPMC representative said a free meal is the least they can do, as many of them help others make it through what might be their worst day. ECGRA invests in early childhood education, 59 centers awarded ARPA grants 'These folks are the ones that on a drop of a hat, the least convenient time or whatever it may be, are the ones jumping out of bed going to take care of people in their time of need. The professionalism they show, the competence they show with doing what they do is amazing,' said Don Holsten, senior manager of pre-hospital care at UPMC. 'And ultimately, what we want to do there is say thank you to them for what they do. They're the most selfless people around.' Cardiac arrest survivors reunite with first responders
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — AMR Rochester is celebrating National EMS week and reuniting EMS workers with cardiac arrest survivors. It's AMR's fourth annual reunion event highlighting the efforts made by first responders to give folks a second chance at life after a cardiac event. The names of those EMS workers and the people they saved will be placed on the 'Tomorrow Wall' at AMR Rochester on a plaque noting the date of the emergency. AMR officials said what's more important, though is being able to recognize the signs of a cardiac arrest and knowing CPR. Thursday's reunion lets providers get receive the honor they deserve and celebrate another life saved. 'Our survivors are our purpose, right, and we're here to save lives and it's great that we can see the impact that our actions have,' AMR Rochester Medical Director Dr. Erik Rueckmann said. 'I think it helps after this pandemic to really show people what we do and the impact of care and I think its good for our providers to get that recognition.' Local EMS heroes celebrated during National EMS Week
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – It's a week to honor the heroes who respond when we need them the most. National EMS week is underway and here in our region local EMS professionals are being recognized for their service and dedication. National EMS week was first authorized by President Gerald Ford in 1974 and has grown into an annual celebration of the vital role emergency medical services professionals play in our communities.
