Diplomats in Indonesia echo India's urgent call for united global efforts to counter terrorism

The leaders of the National Mandate Party (PAN) of Indonesia on Thursday conveyed to the Indian all-party delegation that they stand with New Delhi and categorically stated that "religion and race cannot serve as a basis for exporting terrorism." The Resident Ambassadors of friendly countries in Indonesia that the Indian all-party delegation met with strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and echoed the urgent need for united global efforts to counter this menace. The all-party parliamentary delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, is here with a mission to convey New Delhi's unequivocal stance about India's fight against terrorism to local political and diplomatic leadership, think tanks and media. The delegation met with National Mandate Party (PAN) leaders including Eddy Soeparno, Vice Chairman of PAN, also Deputy Speaker of Indonesian People's Assembly; Viva Yoga Mauladi, Vice Chairman of the Party and also Deputy Minister For Transmigration Republic of Indonesia, and other leaders and Members of Parliament from PAN. The Indian parliamentarians shared views on India's stance on zero tolerance for terrorism, a post on X by the Indian Embassy in Jakarta said. "The PAN party leadership expressed condolences to the victims of the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam, India. PAN leadership conveyed that they stand with India and categorically stated that religion and race cannot serve as a basis for exporting terrorism," the post on X added. The Members of Parliament joining the meeting from PAN also included Dessy Ratnasari, Farah Putri Nahlia, Okta Kumala Dewi, Dr Drajad Wibowo, Slamet Ariyadi and A Bakrie. The delegation interacted with Resident Ambassadors of friendly countries in Indonesia and shared their insights on India's calibrated and strong response through Operation Sindoor. Terming the interaction as a "substantive dialogue," Jha said in a post on X after the meeting that the Ambassadors "strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms, echoing the urgent need for united global efforts to counter this threat and uphold regional peace and international security." The Indian team also held an insightful interaction with scholars and researchers from Indonesia-based think tanks and academia and conveyed a strong and unified message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism to maintain peace and regional stability. The team "sought to jointly explore ways to combat the menace" of terrorism, the Indian Embassy said in another post on X. Earlier on Wednesday, the delegation met Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arief Havas Oegroseno and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn. The Indian team also interacted with Muhammad Husein Fadlulloh, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation, and Muhammad Rofiqi, Chairperson of the Indonesia-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, to sensitise them on India's strong commitment against terrorism. Besides Jha, the delegation comprises MPs Aparajita Sarangi (BJP), Abhishek Banerjee (TMC), Brij Lal (BJP), John Brittas (CPI-M), Pradan Baruah (BJP), Hemang Joshi (BJP), former external affairs minister Salman Khurshid and former ambassador of India to France and Bahrain Mohan Kumar. The delegation is one of the seven multi-party delegations India has tasked to visit 33 global capitals to reach out to the international community to emphasize Pakistan's links to terrorism. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam terror attack, with India carrying out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7. Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions. The on-ground hostilities ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.

Jakarta [Indonesia] May 29 (ANI): The all-party parliamentary delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, met with leaders of Indonesia's National Mandate Party and highlighted the Aprill 22 Pahalgam attack, where innocent people were killed based on their religion. Jha emphasised Pakistan's role in promoting terrorism, contrasting it with India's economic growth. The Indonesian leaders acknowledged the involvement of the Pakistan Army in supporting such activities. Speaking to ANI, Sanjay Kumar Jha said, 'We explained in detail the incident that occurred in Pahalgam, where innocent people were killed solely based on their religion, in front of their families. We also highlighted how Pakistan is promoting terrorism, while India continues to grow economically. 'They acknowledged that the Pakistan Army supports such activities and assured us of their full support,' he added. According to the Embassy of India Jakarta, the delegation also interacted with prominent think tanks and academia, Resident Ambassadors of friendly foreign missions in Indonesia, and the leaders of the National Mandate Party (PAN), a Modernist Muslim Party of Indonesia. The delegation had meaningful discussions with researchers and scholars of various think tanks and academia in Indonesia, including the Indonesian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), The Habibie Center, and Indo-Pacific Strategic Intelligence (ISI), Center for Indonesia Policy Studies (CIPS), University of Indonesia, Indonesia Air Power Studies Center, etc. According to the Embassy of India, Jakarta, the delegation conveyed a strong and unified national message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism. There was an understanding of India's position, and the need was expressed to combat false narratives propagated by vested interests jointly. Responding to a query on endgame on this issue, the delegation categorically conveyed that total relinquishment of terror activities by Pakistan, dismantling of terror infrastructure within Pakistan and the vacating of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) was the ultimate endgame. Further, the Indian Embassy highlighted that the day continued with a lunch interaction with the Resident Ambassadors of friendly diplomatic missions of around 20 countries in Indonesia. The delegation shared their detailed insights on Operation Sindoor, clearly explaining the role of Pakistan in the gruesome terror attack and highlighting India's measured, non-escalatory and targeted response. The delegation also conveyed that terror and talks cannot go together, and blood and water cannot flow together. Jakarta [Indonesia] May 29 (ANI): Eddy Soeparno, Chairperson of the National Mandate Party (PAN) said that the Indonesian side had a good discussion with the All-Party Delegation. Soeparno, while speakg to ANI, said that India encourages countries to build trust, and that Indonesia too condemns terrorism. 'Well, we had a good discussion on cooperation on the prevention of terrorism. Indonesia is also was a victim of terrorism attacks ourselves, so we understand the full impact of terrorism. We support peace. We support global cooperation. We are strongly against terrorist activities,' he said. Soeparno said that they also discussed about upholding peace and economic cooperation between both the countries. 'So therefore we stand strong with countries who uphold the law, who uphold peace and uphold cooperation between the countries and are against terrorism. We also discussed on strengthening economic cooperation. We also discussed on strengthening the cooperation between parliaments, which is very important, and we look forward to continuing this discussion in the future,' he said. Soeparno added that as a part of BRICS nations, too, he underscored the need for cooperation among nations. He added that Indonesia stands against terror attack in Pahalgam. 'Well, for one, we were somewhat informed firsthand on the effect of the Terrorist attacks that have recently occurred in India and we understand the impact of it and again we stand strong with the people of nations of India and other nations who have a continuous fight against terrorism, but more importantly, secondly is how we can uphold peace and harmony among countries among nations and Indonesia as part of a member of BRICS will also continue to strengthen their ties with BRICS countries, especially India in this case we have participation of Indonesia,' he said. Soeparno underlined that cooperation between Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is important and it is imperative that all these nations too condemn terror activities and build trust. 'In the interest of upholding again peace, harmony among countries, and close cooperation, we would encourage obviously for countries within the OIC membership to cooperate closely and to build Trust among nations and again terrorist activities is something that we are against for and we will again communicate this in the interest of global cooperation between countries, especially Islamic countries,' he said.
