Locals making bets ahead of the Big Game
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — With the Super Bowl on Sunday night, some in the Valley are making big bets.
National NPR estimates $1.39 billion will be spent on bets for the Big Game, which is up from last year.
At Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Austintown, people were making their Super Bowl and other sports bets throughout the day.
Marketing Director Kevin Brogan said the Super Bowl brings in crowds of people from sports enthusiasts to those who don't typically make sports bets. As for how the Valley is betting, he says it's a mix.
'Unlike the college championship, where the fan support was overwhelmingly dressed in red, tonight we'll see a lot of green jerseys throughout our sportsbook too. With the game, pretty much a pick 'em, this should be a fun one to watch,' Brogan said.
