No limit we cannot cross to defend sovereignty: Rajnath Singh
NEW DELHI: Amid growing indications of a wider conflagration, defence minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday warned Pakistan that India will not flinch from taking any step to defend itself. "There is no limit that we cannot cross to defend our national sovereignty ," Singh said while addressing the National Quality Conclave. "India has always been a responsible nation. We have always believed in dialogue for solutions. Operation Sindoor Operation Sindoor: Several airports in India closed - check full list Did Pak shoot down Indian jets? What MEA said India foils Pakistan's attack on Jammu airport: What we know so far But that does not mean that we will allow anyone to take unfair advantage of our tolerance and patience and, if anyone dares do that, we will give the same kind of quality response as yesterday," Singh said, his stark remarks coming on a day when India, responding to Pakistan's failed attempt to hit military installations, successfully breached the hostile neighbour's air defence. The defence minister, who had earlier in the day told an all-party meeting Operation Sindoor was ongoing, said the way the armed forces successfully carried out strikes on nine terror camps while ensuring that there were no collateral civilian casualties was unimaginable. "I congratulate our armed forces. We are proud of the way they demolished terror camps in Punjab and POK," Singh said, emphasising that the success would not have been possible without quality weapons. He also lauded PM Narendra Modi for his focus on empowering the defence sector. "He was guided by the philosophy of defence sovereignty which means that a country's defence preparedness can never be adequate unless it becomes self-reliant in meeting its defence needs," he said. "If we continue to source our weapons and defence equipment from others, then it will mean that we have outsourced our security to others. This can never be good in the long run. Our govt paid attention to it and took the decisive step for developing self-reliance," Singh said as he also appreciated the growing involvement of private entrepreneurs in the defence sector.

Precision with which ‘Operation Sindoor' was executed was commendable, says Rajnath Singh
'I congratulate our armed forces for the action they took yesterday and the courage and valour they displayed. The way our armed forces have destroyed terror camps in Pakistan and PoK is a matter of pride for all of us,' Singh said. He was delivering a keynote address at the National Quality Conclave here, highlighting India's research and development in the defence sector and quality advancement. New Delhi: Hours after India carried out Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised Indian armed forces for the success of the operation. Singh said that a military operation of such intensity and significance was executed without harming any civilians only because of equipment of high quality and professionalism of the armed forces. 'Yesterday we saw an example of what role quality plays. The precision with which 'Operation Sindoor' was executed was commendable. In this, nine terrorist camps were destroyed and a good number of terrorists were killed. The way this operation was carried out, without harming any innocent person, with minimum collateral damage, was possible because our formidable and professionally trained Armed forces had high quality equipment,' he added. His address came hours after the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that India thwarted missile and drone attacks by Pakistan against multiple military establishments in the early hours of Thursday. In a statement Thursday, MoD said Pakistan attempted to target military sites in Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. 'These were neutralised by the integrated counter UAS grid and air defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks.' In response, India targeted air defence radars and systems in Pakistan, neutralising an air defence system in Lahore. New Delhi [India], May 8 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajanth Singh on Thursday hailed India's Armed forces for successfully targeting and destroying terror camps in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor. 'It is a matter of pride for us,' he said Addressing the National Quality Conclave at DRDO, Singh said that the nine terrorist camps were destroyed and 'a significant number of terrorists' killed in the operation. 'I congratulate the armed forces for the action they took yesterday and the courage and bravery they showed. 'The precision with which Operation Sindoor was executed is unimaginable, very praiseworthy. Nine terrorist camps were destroyed in it and a significant number of terrorists were killed. This operation was carried out without harming any innocents and with minimum collateral damage,' Singh said. Early on May 7 morning, India executed a coordinated assault using long-range high-precision strike weapons, destroying nine sites in Pok and deep inside Pakistan in an operation codenamed 'Sindoor'. Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets on the night of May 7. Over 100 terrorists were eliminated in a series of precision strikes launched in the early hours of Wednesday, according to sources. The operation, aimed at avenging the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed, remains underway, making it challenging to provide an exact casualty count of the terrorists at this stage, sources further stated. Following the operation, military targets were engaged in Northern and Western India, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. Anyone trying to take advantage of India's restraint will face quality action: Rajnath Singh
New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said India has always played the role of a responsible nation exercising great restraint and it believes in resolving issues through dialogue, but anyone trying to take advantage of this restraint, will face 'quality action'. Addressing the National Quality Conclave here, the Defence Minister assured the nation that no limit will become an obstacle for the Government in protecting India's sovereignty, a Defence Ministry statement said. 'We are fully prepared for such responsible responses in the future as well,' he said. Rajnath said, 'Operation Sindoor was successfully executed because our formidable and professionally-trained Armed Forces were equipped with high-quality equipment'. He commended the precision with which the Armed Forces executed the operation without harming any innocent person and with minimum collateral damage, terming it as unimaginable and a matter of great pride for the nation. 'In Operation Sindoor, nine terror camps were destroyed in Pakistan and PoK, and a good number of terrorists were killed. It shows the crucial role 'quality' plays in securing national interests,' said the Minister. Voicing the government's emphasis on the empowerment of the defence production sector since 2014, based on government's philosophy of Defence Sovereignty, Rajnath said, 'Defence Sovereignty means that until a country is capable and self reliant in its defence needs, its independence cannot be considered complete. "If we buy weapons and other defence equipment from abroad, we are outsourcing our security and leaving it at the mercy of someone else. Our government thought over it seriously and took a decisive step to achieve self-reliance. The expanding defence industrial ecosystem is providing an unprecedented strength to India'. While he acknowledged the efforts being made towards quality improvement, Rajnath stressed on the need to focus on using tools such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, and machine learning for real-time quality monitoring in today's technology-driven era. He also called for updating standards and testing protocols to align with evolving global technologies. We need to focus on time-bound quality assurance clearances so that unwanted delays do not take place, he said. Rajnath asserted that quality assessment agencies should always keep an eye on their deficiencies and work on overcoming them through modernisation and development of testing infrastructure. Continuous gap analysis in the field of niche technology will be an essential step, he added. Organised by the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) under the aegis of Department of Defence Production, the conclave underscored the need to transition from legacy QA models to predictive, data-driven, and automated systems.
