The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has signed a strategic agreement with Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) to strengthen the National Scholarship Programme and support the UAE's future engineering workforce. The partnership will offer high-quality education and training opportunities for Emirati students pursuing degrees in critical fields such as mechanical, electrical, nuclear, and chemical engineering. It also aims to ease their transition into the workforce through career development and job placement support. The agreement was signed by Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary at MoHESR, and Ahmed Jassim Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Human Capital at ENEC, during a ceremony attended by senior officials from both organisations. Under the deal, MoHESR will allocate annual scholarships for students in coordination with ENEC. Both parties will collaborate on selecting universities, aligning admission requirements, and managing applications to ensure the programme supports national development priorities. Alsaadi highlighted the Ministry's commitment to aligning scholarships with market needs, stating that the goal is to transform academic pathways into launchpads for future leaders. ENEC, for its part, will provide structured training and mentorship to scholarship recipients, and offer employment opportunities upon graduation as part of its long-term talent development strategy. This partnership reflects both entities' shared commitment to developing local talent, aligning higher education outcomes with labour market demands, and advancing the UAE's long-term economic vision. It also marks a new milestone in public-private sector collaboration aimed at boosting the quality of the National Scholarship Programme. Under the agreement, MoHESR will offer scholarships to Emirati students pursuing studies in mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as other specialisations to be mutually agreed upon with EGA, at some of the world's top universities. The two partners will work together to select the most relevant universities and academic programmes, evaluate scholarship applications and identify suitable candidates – including new as well as current students – and align the selection criteria with the admission requirements. The Ministry will cover tuition fees and associated allowances, monitor students' academic progress, and coordinate with educational attachés abroad, particularly in matters related to overseas training and employment.
