Aviata at Emerald Shores celebrates Skilled Nursing Care Week
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – This week is National Skilled Nursing Care Week, recognizing the impact of nursing homes on the community. Aspire at Emerald Shores Nursing Home received an official name change on Friday to Aviata at Emerald Shores. The 77-bed skilled nursing facility provides short-term rehab for residents in-between hospital stays, and long-term care for those who need ongoing medical assistance. The facility hosted a luau on Friday to celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week. 'We want to recognize our residents that we take care of on a daily basis. They receive physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy. And we have a great dietary staff and housekeeping staff as well. And the focus is on the care that we provide that are resident of our residence every week,' Aviata at Emerald Shores Administrator Ann Wounder said. Peoria Mayor kicks off National Skilled Nursing Care Week
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Peoria Mayor Rita Ali kicked off National Skilled Nursing Care Week with a balloon release. Ali was at Liberty Village of Peoria nursing home to meet the nurses and community. She spoke with the facility's oldest married couple, their 102-year-old resident, and read a proclamation. She said it's important to use this week to thank those who care for the elderly. 'We're celebrating nurses and the care that they provide to the people that live here, as well as the people that live here that are really grateful to have the kind of care that they have at this facility,' said Ali. Morgantown nursing home hosts Mother's Day Tea
MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — Sundale Rehabilitation and Long Term Care held tea time on Sunday to celebrate Mother's Day. Residents of the nursing home enjoyed tea and sweets with their family for the afternoon. 12 News talked to one table that consisted of a great grandmother, a grandmother, a mother and a great granddaughter. Bird watchers flock to Mon County for Mother's Day bird walk The great grandmother Shirley Austin is 90-years-old. 'I have looked forward to this day. I'm just happy to have them here.' Along with Sunday being Mother's Day, it is also the first day of National Skilled Nursing Care Week. Sundale will be doing a special event each day throughout the week to celebrate.
