Vizag city under 3-tier security blanket for Int'l Yoga Day event
Visakhapatnam: A three-tier security blanket covered the Vizag city for the International Yoga Day (IYD) event that will be held on June 21. More than 10,000 security personnel, including commandos from the National Security Guard (NSG), and armed forces have been deployed at beach road stretch in Vizag. The beach road stretch between the Naval Coastal Battery (NCB) and Park Hotel Junction, is the main venue for the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan and other VVIPs are scheduled to participate in the grand event. Vizag city police chief Shanka Brata Bagchi stated that more than 1,200 CCTV cameras are positioned to monitor the entire beach road stretch, where thousands of people are expected to perform yoga. Over 10,000 police personnel have been deployed for security duties. "A high-tech police control room has been established to oversee coordination and maintain foolproof security throughout the event, which is anticipated to see massive public participation," he added. Though the police have prohibited drones at the main and few other venues for the event, the police will use the drones at a few locations to monitor the venues from Appughar to Bheemili along the beach road.
