Ukraine's Security Service strikes Crimean Bridge for third time
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has carried out a unique special operation, striking the Crimean Bridge for the third time – this time with an underwater attack. The operation lasted several months. Source: Security Service of Ukraine, citing statement by SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk Details: At 04:44, the SSU activated underwater explosive devices placed beneath the bridge supports. The SSU reported that the explosives with a power of 1,100 kg in TNT equivalent caused significant structural damage at the seabed level. As a result of the explosion, the bridge is now in an emergency condition. The SSU noted that the operation was meticulously planned and caused no civilian casualties. The planning and coordination were personally overseen by the head of the SSU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk. Quote from Maliuk: "Third time's a charm and the SSU always completes its missions and never repeats itself. We previously struck the Crimean Bridge in 2022 and 2023. So today we continued that tradition – underwater. There is no place for any illegal Russian structures on the territory of our state. That is why the Crimean Bridge is a completely legitimate target, especially given that the enemy used it as a logistics artery to supply its troops. Crimea is Ukraine, and any manifestations of occupation will receive our harsh response." Previously: Russian forces temporarily closed the Crimean Bridge on the morning of 3 June. Background: On 1 June 2025, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out a special operation codenamed Pavutyna (Spider's Web), one of the largest and most complex sabotage operations against Russian military aviation. The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the operation resulted in the destruction of 41 Russian strategic aircraft, including Tu-95, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 strategic bombers, as well as an A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft. In April, Oleksii Neizhpapa, Commander of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that the Crimean Bridge, which connects occupied Crimea with Russian territory, remains a target for Ukraine's defence forces but stressed the need to maintain information silence. Yemen : Houthis claims they targeted US aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman in Red Sea
The Yemeni Houthi group said Monday that it carried out a military operation targeting the USS Harry S. Truman and other hostile warships in the northern Red Sea. Yahya Sare'e, the group's spokesman, said in a televised statement that the Houthi Air Force and Naval Forces carried out a joint operation using cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones in response to 'continued American aggression" against Yemen. He added that the operation also targeted 'additional hostile warships' operating in the area. 'As a result of the clash and confrontation, the carrier was forced to retreat and move away from its previous position, heading toward the far northern part of the Red Sea,' he added. The Yemeni forces 'will continue to target and pursue the aircraft carrier and all hostile warships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea until the aggression against Yemen ceases,' Sare'e continued. On Monday, at least 68 people were killed and 47 others injured in US airstrikes on a shelter for African migrants in Yemen's northern Saada province, the Houthi group said. Later in the day, the US Navy said that a US F-18 fighter jet and a tow tractor from the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman both went down while operating in the Red Sea while the F-18 was "actively under tow in the hangar bay when the move crew lost control of the aircraft.' Separately, Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported Monday night that US airstrikes had targeted the Harf Sufyan District in the Amran Governorate in northern Yemen. Later, the channel reported additional raids involving four airstrikes on the Barash area east of Jabal Nuqm in the capital Sanaa. No further details were provided on possible casualties or damage from the strikes, and Washington has not issued any comment. The US has carried out more than 1,200 airstrikes in Yemen since March 15, killing more than 225 civilians and injuring over 430, mostly women and children, according to Houthi data that excludes losses among their forces. US President Donald Trump said last month that he had ordered "decisive and powerful military action" against the Houthi group and later threatened to "completely annihilate them." The Houthis have targeted ships passing through the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden since November 2023 in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where more than 52,000 people have been killed in a brutal Israeli assault for more than 19 months. The group halted attacks when a Gaza ceasefire was declared in January between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas but resumed them after Israel renewed airstrikes on Gaza last month.

Russia builds layered defence: naval drone attacks became more difficult, Ukrainian Navy says
Russia has built a layered defence system, which has made it harder for Ukraine to carry out attacks using uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). Source: Vice Admiral Oleksii Neizhpapa, Commander of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in an interview with a Radio Liberty project Quote: "There was a time when we could calmly enter Sevastopol Bay with naval drones, but now it is not that simple. The enemy has set up a layered defence system. It begins with a layered detection system – long-range, mid-range and close-range zones for detecting our uncrewed systems. Then comes the procedure for destroying them… And, of course, to overcome it, we have to make different decisions – technical decisions, first of all… We need to be more flexible, smarter, and always ahead in technology. Those naval drones that were just kamikaze are already nearly history. Now, all USVs must be able to carry various types of weapons, with different methods of use, to be more effective and to achieve success." Details: When asked whether Russia has analogues of such drones, Neizhpapa noted that Russian forces are trying to develop them. Quote: "There have been a few uses, more or less successful. And they are working on it. And we are also preparing to repel these drones and their possible use. Just like during the ground war, it was something new for them back then. Now, as you can see, it is a drone war. And at sea, too, they are preparing to do the same things. So we are also getting ready, not only to use drones against the enemy, but also to defend ourselves from them." Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Crimean Bridge remains target, but information silence is needed
Oleksii Neizhpapa, Commander of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has said that the Kerch Bridge, which connects occupied Crimea with Russian territory, remains a target for Ukraine's defence forces but stressed the need to maintain information silence. Source: Neizhpapa in an interview with a Radio Liberty project Quote: "Of course, the bridge is a difficult target, especially now. But in life, there is no fortress that cannot be destroyed. There are no borders that cannot be crossed. And the bridge is the same. It's the same target as everything else." Details: The Navy commander also stressed that in order to achieve success, information silence must be maintained. "And if we say that tomorrow we intend to hit the Crimean bridge, the enemy would probably find out about it through television. Or if we say that we won't hit it. Well, that's not right," Neizhpapa added. He also noted that the number of strikes on Crimea has not decreased, perhaps their intensity is lower. "I did not conduct such analyses, less or more. Everything is working as usual, just like on other fronts. Therefore, there are targets in Crimea and other areas where the enemy is, of course. That's why I can't provide you with such analytics... Targets get hit. Perhaps not all of them are known from the press, of course. Perhaps the intensity is not so great. Perhaps this is due to the importance of other areas," said Neizhpapa. Background: There have been at least two successful attacks on the Crimean Bridge. The first attack on the Crimean Bridge took place on the morning of 8 October 2022, the day after Vladimir Putin's 70th birthday. It involved a truck with explosives wrapped in foil. The next day, the Russian newspaper Medusa called the Crimean Bridge, which was damaged after the explosion on 8 October 2022, one of the most secure places in the world – it was allegedly protected from the ground, the sky, the sea, underwater, and even from space. The second strike on the bridge was carried out by Ukraine on the night of 16-17 July 2023, with naval surface drones in an operation named Sea Baby, after the drones. Later, it became known that the Russians had installed barges south of the Crimean Bridge that were supposed to become "barricades" covering the bridge against Ukrainian naval drones. In March, Neizhpapa announced "active discussions" about a third attack on the Crimean Bridge and expressed optimism about its destruction. Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!
