Paramilitary jawan killed in IED blast in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was martyred in an IED blast during an anti-Naxal operation in the dense Saranda forests of West Singhbhum on Saturday explosion occurred around 5:50 am in the K. Baalang area near Rourkela, Odisha, along the Jharkhand-Odisha border. Troops of the 134 Battalion CRPF and Odisha's Special Operations Group (SOG) were conducting a joint operation when the blast was triggered by Sub-Inspector (ASI) Satyaban Kumar Singh (34), a native of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, sustained critical injuries to his left leg in the blast. He was immediately evacuated to Apollo Hospital in Rourkela for treatment. However, despite efforts, Singh succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead. The operation was part of a heightened combing exercise by security agencies following the recent looting of explosive materials by Naxals in the region. Security forces, including units from both Odisha and Jharkhand police, have intensified search operations to track down the in the administration said, 'After the incident, the entire region has been put on high alert, and additional forces have been deployed to strengthen the search operation.' The explosion site falls under the jurisdiction of the Kebolang police station in also indicated that 'Naxals are closely monitoring the movement of security personnel and are actively plotting attacks.' In response, combing operations have been ramped up in the forest areas to identify and dismantle Naxal hideouts and prevent further attacks.
