NCC aims to add 3 lakh cadets across the country: MoS Defence
\\hopal, June 3 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth announced on Tuesday that the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will be expanded in a planned manner, with the aim of adding 3 lakh cadets across the country.
Addressing a conference of special joint state representatives and additional/deputy directors-general of NCC here, Seth said several states have already given their consent and are committed to rapidly enhancing the infrastructure required for training.
The Minister highlighted NCC's role in nation-building and youth development, citing recent initiatives such as recruiting ex-servicemen as NCC instructors and providing them with new employment opportunities.
He also praised NCC's active participation in national programmes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Naya Savera scheme, and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Seth congratulated the NCC expedition team on their successful ascent of Mount Everest on May 18, 2025, calling it a testament to the cadets' courage and capabilities.
The Minister urged states to fulfill their commitments regarding personnel, infrastructure, and funding to support NCC's historic expansion, which will help shape the future of youth and secure the nation.
NCC Director-General Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh outlined the organisation's achievements and future plans, focusing on establishing robust training and camp infrastructure nationwide. He laid stress on promoting greater youth involvement and improving cadet performance.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, departmental representatives from various states, and NCC heads from all states. UNI XC AKT SSP
