CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Easton Carmichael homered twice and drove in four runs, Oklahoma matched its season high with 18 hits and Cade Crossland scattered five hits over seven innings as the Sooners advanced to the Chapel Hill Regional final with a 17-1 rout of Nebraska on Sunday. The Sooners (37-21) will play No. 5 national seed North Carolina on Sunday night and would have to win that game and beat the Tar Heels again Monday to reach super regionals for the first time since 2022. The Cornhuskers (33-29) went 1-2 in their second straight regional appearance. Advertisement Oklahoma converted two hits and three errors into a 3-0 lead in the first. Carmichael went deep to left in a six-run third inning, and his three-run homer to right center highlighted a five-run sixth and made it 15-0. Sam Christiansen had two of the Sooners' five doubles. Crossland (5-5) struck out nine in his longest outing of the season. He held the Huskers scoreless until Dylan Carey's infield single drove in an unearned run. South Dakota's Ashlyn Koupal revealed that she narrowed her commitment search to Nebraska along with Michigan State, TCU, Duke and Kansas, per 247Sports' Dushawn London. The five-star power forward is the No. 1 prospect in South Dakota and the 5th-best power forward in the nation for her recruiting class, per 247Sports' Composite rankings. Defensive back and Florida decommit Devin Jackson set for official visit to Nebraska The Nebraska Cornhuskers are scheduled to welcome in a four-star defensive back for an official visit in June. Safety Devin Jackson listed the Huskers on his official visits, alongside LSU, Miami and Oregon. Jackson initially committed to Florida in July 2024 but decommitted in mid-April, becoming the second defensive back in the 2026 class to do so after position coach Will Harris left Florida to join Miami. Jackson is listed as the No. 14-ranked safety and the No. 19-ranked prospect in the state of Florida according to the On3 recruiting ratings. He holds 45 offers with schools such as Miami, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State and LSU. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior visited Nebraska back in February after putting together a strong 2024 season with First Academy. Across 10 games, Jackson racked up 80 total tackles, seven pass break-ups, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one tackle-for-loss. Jackson is scheduled to visit Lincoln on June 20.
