Neenah Ellis wins prestigious award for journalism

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A renowned Ohio journalist is receiving a prestigious award.
Neenah Ellis, founder of the Eichelberger Center for Community Voices, former WYSO general manager and longtime NPR journalist is the 2025 recipient of the Leo C. Lee Award.
The award is presented by the Public Media Journalists Association and recognizes the efforts of either an individual or an organization that makes a significant impact on public radio journalism.
Ira Glass, Susan Stamberg, Carl Kasell and Dave Isay, among others, have won the award previously.
Ellis has contributed to public media journalism for five decades, creating award-winning documentaries, a NYT bestseller and produced NPR's 'All Things Considered.'
'Here in southwest Ohio, we all know Neenah's incredible work,' said WYSO GeneralManager Luke Dennis in a press release. 'So it is deeply gratifying to see my friend and mentor being honored with a national award.'
An awards ceremony is scheduled for June in Kansas City.
