Oshkosh man charged with first degree intentional homicide stemming from November death, $500k bond set
NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – An Oshkosh man was charged on Thursday with 1st-degree intentional homicide stemming from a man's death in November; his bond was set at $500,000. The Neenah Police Department released an update in the case of on November 24, 2024, saying that 53-year-old Rodney Franklin was identified as a result of evidence from the State Crime Laboratory. Four Mexican nationals indicted for conspiracy to distribute several kilograms of drugs in Green Bay Franklin has been in custody since November 24, 2024, on a charge of theft from a corpse. Dairy Queen in Neenah raises $2,000 for Fox Cities Victim Crisis Response Team through green popcorn fundraiser

The Neenah Police Department said on Facebook that the fundraiser for the Fox Cities Victim Crisis Response Team collected about $2,000. NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – Four gas stations in Neenah are now displaying fraud warning flyers after an uptick in scams involving Bitcoin ATMs inside the establishments. Bitcoin ATMs allow users to deposit cash and convert it into digital currency, often sending it to a designated digital wallet. While these machines are legal and commonly used for cryptocurrency transactions, scammers have increasingly taken advantage of them to exploit victims across Winnebago County. They create a sense of urgency by claiming there's a warrant out for arrest, a family member in danger, or a hacked bank account—then instruct the victim to transfer money through a Bitcoin ATM. 'We have taken numerous complaints of all the above examples,' the department said in a statement. 'Because of this, Winnebago County law enforcement agencies, in conjunction with local businesses, have teamed up with a proactive approach and begun placing these 'STOP! Neenah police officer fired after search warrants lead to child pornography charges
NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – The Neenah Police Department announced in a release that one of their officers has been terminated from the force after he was charged with two counts of child pornography possession. According to the release, Officer Owen Halls had been employed by the department since March 25, 2024. On Monday, Neenah Police Chief Aaron L. Olson was alerted to an Internet Crimes Against Children tip with the suspect identified as Neenah Police Officer Owen Halls. 'Stole from every taxpayer in the country': Wisconsin man ordered to pay $2.2 million in restitution to Medicaid/Medicare, 21 months in prison The Kaukauna Police Department met with Chief Olson regarding the report, and evidence was handed off, with plans to detain Halls on Wednesday. Multiple search warrants were executed by the Kaukauna Police Department, leading to the following charge: Possession of child pornography (2 counts) 'Mr. Halls' alleged conduct has disgraced our department, our citizens and law enforcement as a whole,' Chief Olson said in a release. 'He has been terminated from our department.' Former Green Bay Packer charged for dog fighting in 'largest seizure of dogs from one person' The release added that they are following a procedure to decertify him as a Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officer. Chief Olson added the following statement: 'As your police chief, I am sorry. We conduct very thorough backgrounds, but somehow, Mr. Halls was able to deceive all of us. I understand this will and should cause concern. In my seven years as your police chief, nothing has disappointed me more than the reported actions of this former officer.' Appleton Fire Department Lieutenant retires after 26 years of serving community
APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – The Appleton Fire Department is celebrating the career of one of its Lieutenants who is retiring after serving the city for 26 years. Lt. Greg Cullen's time with the Appleton Fire Department began in March 1999 as a firefighter, before he was promoted to a driver/engineer in 2007. Neenah Police Department reveals brand new F-150 squad truck, discusses training Lt. Cullen was promoted to the Lieutenant role in 2009, and has served in the role since. 'Greg will always cherish the camaraderie and humor that made life at the firehouse unforgettable,' the Appleton Fire Department said on Facebook. 'Every crew brought its own mix of laughter, inside jokes and unique personalities, making the toughest days a little lighter.' The post also added a bit of advice from Lt.
