What's Trending: Comic books, Big Boi and Uncle D
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Superheroes are what connects this week's local trending stories. First up, we've got two events for comic book fans this weekend. Superstar Comic Con will be coming to the Savannah Convention Center Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4. There will be a litany of guests from all the artists and performers that brought your favorite comic book and fantasy characters to life. If you can't make it to Super Star, there's still a treat in store for you. Neighborhood Comics will be giving away free comic books on Saturday. Visitors are allowed to take five books but if you make a donation of used men's clothes, you get to take ten comics. Next up, a hero to Savannah is getting a special recognition. Earlier this week it was announced that hip hop group Outkast will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this November. Founding member Big Boi is from the Hostess City and an especially proud relative sounded off on his nephew receiving the honor. Local comics store offers free comic books on May 3
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Comic book lovers of all ages are in for a treat. Neighborhood Comics in Savannah is giving away free comic books on May 3. Neighborhood Comics owner Lee Heidel says, 'Free Comic Book Day is our biggest event of theyear. It's truly a privilege to share these wonderful, free stories with our community. It's theperfect opportunity to find a new favorite comic book.' There will be more than 50 different free comic book titles available. This year's selection ofcomics includes beloved franchises and characters such as Spider-Man, Archie, X-Men, GI Joe,Godzilla and Minecraft. Each attendee can get up to 5 free comic books. However, if you bring an item of new or gentlyused men's clothing, the store will donate that item to Emmaus House and raise the free comicbook limit to 10 free books.
