Sister carries on mum's search for missing son

The sister of a man who went missing nearly 22 years ago has resumed her mother's hunt for answers after she died last year. Neil Nortrop, from Devon, was 32 when he disappeared from London on 10 June 2003. He had left his mother's house in Brixham and travelled to Greenwich and Dartford to visit friends and has not been seen since. Mr Nortrop's sister Alex McGarthland said she wanted to "carry on her legacy" of trying to find answers after their mother died in 2024. 'Searching for answers' She has been working with the charity Missing People which aims to reconnect missing people with their family. Mr Nortrop's family said in a statement: "We are searching for answers as to what happened to him so we can have closure, if not for my parents as both [are] deceased, but for us as a family as it is difficult to move on without any answers. "It is now 22 years on, and it seems like yesterday. "We are appealing to those who may have some answers to come forward." At the time of his disappearance, Mr Nortrop was described as 5ft 11in (1.8m) with short fair hair, blue eyes and diamond studs in his teeth. The father-of-two, who was a fisherman, had a scar under his left eye and last was seen driving a blue Ford Mondeo. Follow BBC Devon on X, Facebook and Instagram.
