Trailer driver remanded after fatal 4-vehicle crash in Johor
Police said the suspect, who was arrested when he lodged a report at the Kulai police station, tested positive for drug use.
PETALING JAYA : A trailer driver who was involved in a four-vehicle crash at Km34.1 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) in Johor on Thursday, which killed two people, has been remanded for four days.
The 39-year-old driver has been remanded until May 13 to assist in the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Kulai police chief Tan Seng Lee said the man was arrested after he went to the police station to lodge a report. A urine test found him positive for drug use.
In the 10.15pm incident, the trailer carrying a shipment of tin lost control and crashed into the back of a pickup truck before entering the opposite lane and colliding with two cars.
Gee Yin Chin, 42, and her daughter, Neo Jo Ee, 15, who were in one of the cars, were killed.
Gee's husband and their two sons were injured and taken to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital, before being referred to a private hospital.
