What Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Means for NetEase Stock (NTES)

Marvel Rivals developer NetEase (NTES) launched Season 2.5 on Friday, and with it came major changes to the team-based hero shooter featuring Disney's (DIS) Marvel characters. The biggest change in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 is the introduction of Ultron as a new character to the game. He fills the Strategist role, and players can unlock a golden skin for the robot menace. There's also the Cerebro Database II season event for players to take part in. Finally, a laundry list of hero changes was introduced, including balances and new Team Ups. These changes and additions benefit NetEase, as they encourage players to spend money on new character skins, as well as other cosmetics. The new events and introduction of a new character also help bring back players who may have taken a break since the last major update. NTES Stock Movement Today Despite the release of Marvel Rivals Season 2.5, shares of NTES stock were down 2.21% as of Friday morning. Even so, shares of NTES stock are still up 40.96% year-to-date. The NTES stock drop today could be the result of a more muted reaction to Ultron's introduction from gamers. Previous new character additions, such as Emma Frost, set the internet ablaze as fans welcomed the busty beauty to the game. Ultron's more utilitarian design may not have sparked the same type of interest from players. Is NetEase Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold? Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for NetEase is Moderate Buy, based on five Buy and two Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average NTES stock price target of $130.36, representing a potential 4.9% upside for the shares.

Chicago, IL – May 30, 2025 – The stocks in this week's article are NetEase Inc. NTES, Fox Corp. FOX, Qifu Technology Inc. QFIN and UGI Corp. UGI. After staging a strong comeback from the lows hit in early April, Wall Street has been experiencing volatile trading again in recent weeks. Growing uncertainty around the new U.S. administration's economic tariffs continues to weigh on investor sentiment. In such a scenario, investors should shift their focus to products that provide stability and safety in a rocky market. And nothing seems better than dividend investing, which offers income and stability. Though dividend stocks do not offer dramatic price appreciation, they are a major source of consistent income for investors to create wealth when returns from the equity market are at risk. In fact, picking stocks with a history of dividend growth leads to a healthy portfolio with a greater scope of capital appreciation as opposed to simple dividend-paying stocks or those with high yields. We have selected four dividend growth stocks — NetEase Inc., Fox Corp., Qifu Technology Inc. and UGI Corp. — that could be compelling picks for investors amid the current market turmoil. Stocks that have a strong history of dividend growth belong to mature companies, which are less susceptible to large swings in the market, and thus act as a hedge against economic or political uncertainty as well as stock market volatility. At the same time, these offer downside protection with their consistent increase in payouts. Additionally, these stocks have superior fundamentals that make dividend growth a quality and promising investment for the long term. These include a sustainable business model, a long track of profitability, rising cash flows, good liquidity, a strong balance sheet and some value characteristics. Further, a history of strong dividend growth indicates that a dividend increase is likely in the future. Although these stocks do not necessarily have the highest yields, they have outperformed for a longer period than the broader stock market or any other dividend-paying stock. Here are four of the five stocks that fit the bill: Beijing-based NetEase is an Internet technology company engaged in the development of applications, services and other technologies for the Internet in China. The stock saw a solid earnings estimate revision of 70 cents for this year over the past 30 days and has an expected earnings growth rate of 10.6%. NetEase has a Zacks Rank #1 and a Growth Score of A. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank stocks here. New York-based Fox Corp. produces and distributes news, sports and entertainment content. The company's brands include FOX News, FOX Sports, the FOX Network, the FOX Television Stations and sports cable networks FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes and Big Ten Network. The company saw a positive earnings estimate revision of 5 cents for the fiscal year (ending June 2025) over the past 30 days and has an expected earnings growth rate of 32.4%. Fox Corporation has a Zacks Rank #1 and a Growth Score of B. China-based Qifu Technology is a Credit-Tech platform principally in China that provides a comprehensive suite of technology services to assist financial institutions and consumers and SMEs in the loan lifecycle, ranging from borrower acquisition, preliminary credit assessment, fund matching and post-facilitation services. The stock saw a positive earnings estimate revision of a penny for this year over the past 30 days and has an expected earnings growth rate of 22.6%. Qifu has a Zacks Rank #2 and a Growth Score of A. Pennsylvania-based UGI Corp. is a holding company that distributes, stores, transports and markets energy products and related services through its subsidiaries. It is a domestic and international retail distributor of propane and butane liquefied petroleum gases; a provider of natural gas and electric service via regulated local distribution utilities; a generator of electricity and a regional marketer of energy commodities. The stock saw a positive earnings estimate revision of a couple of cents for the fiscal year (ending September 2025) over the past 30 days. UGI Corporation has a Zacks Rank #2 and a Growth Score of B. The entire Thor and Jeff controversy in Marvel Rivals explained

Image via NetEase Games. Season 2.5 in Marvel Rivals is a matter of time now. With brand new content like Combat Chest and addition of Ultron, the game has also planned a lot of balance changes as well. Many of the characters are getting their respective buffs and nerfs, but it seems fans couldn't stand the upcoming changes of Thor and Jeff the Land Shark. For any multiplayer PvP shooter, striking a proper balance between the characters and their abilities has always been the main challenge for the developers. However, in order to maintain that, sometimes some characters become OP, and sometimes some characters face harsh destiny. In similar fashion, fans are hugely disappointed with the upcoming changes on those two characters. Marvel Rivals: The Thor and Jeff Controversy Since NetEase Games revealed the patch notes of Season 2.5 , fans became utterly disgusted with the changes made on Thor and Jeff the Land Shark. Characters like Captain America, Emma Frost, and many more are getting nerfs. But those never stirred controversy the way the former two characters did. However, NetEase has addressed the issue via Twitter and after seeing this explanation, it can be clearly understood that the upcoming changes on Thor and Jeff can't be marked simply as buffs or nerfs. And that is where the main problem arised. Fans can't even understand if it will go positively for those two characters, as far as the upcoming changes are concerned. That is why they are concerned about the future of these two characters. The fans even went on to post a petition on for Marvel Rivals to scrap the upcoming changes. So, what are the upcoming changes to these two characters which have sparked so much debate? For Thor, the Hammer Throw ability has now got a 6-second cooldown and the damage has also been decreased. Not only that, his survivability, which is Thor's biggest vulnerability, is also decreased as well. In the case of Jeff the Land Shark, its primary ability Joyful Splash will now damage enemies but his allies will now get less healing. Also, its Healing Bubble charges have been decreased from 6 to 3. As NetEase has leaned towards making Jeff a supportive healer, its groundbreaking ultimate ability, It's Jeff, will only close 450 energy instead of 4000, in turn granting bonus health for its allies. These are the changes fans are mostly worried about. NetEase has tagged these changes as reworks , but fans fear these 'reworks' will decrease the pick rate of these character even more, and they might be stacked under other overpowered games forever.
