Singer Michael Wong Hints At Additional Shows After Selling Out Stadium Merdeka Concert
Earlier this week, Malaysian singer Michael Wong, better known as Guang Liang (光良), kicked off the sales for his long-awaited concert at Stadium Merdeka. Ticket sales were a hit, and the show was sold out in less than two hours, prompting fans to ask for more shows.
If you haven't heard, Michael will perform at Stadium Merdeka on 19th July 2025 (Saturday) for his 'Never Apart. Lonely Planet 3.0' tour finale. As a thank-you to his loyal fans, the singer announced that all seats for the show are priced at a flat rate of RM199. Understandably, this move sparked interest towards the concert, with many aiming to get a ticket.
Ticket sales began on 21st April 2025 (Monday) at noon and sold out within an hour and a half. Unfortunately, many fans lament on social media that they failed to get tickets, urging Michael and his team to consider an additional show. It seems that Michael heard all the concerns because days later, he updated fans that he's currently discussing the possibility of adding another date.
In his Facebook post, the vocalist wrote, 'We're now in urgent discussions to explore the possibility of adding a second show, to respond to your incredible support and anticipation, and to make up for the disappointment of those who missed out.'. Many fans have reacted to the post, thanking Michael for listening to their concerns. Even those who already got tickets support the move, saying they want more people to enjoy the show.
At the same time, Michael reminded fans about scalpers, urging them to only purchase tickets from the official ticketing partner. His post also included notices from ticket holders, saying the tickets obtained from unauthorised sellers would be rendered invalid. The notice ends with him asking fans for their cooperation, writing, 'Let us stand together to uphold the integrity of this heartfelt musical journey.'
It's clear to see that this concert is important to Michael, so we hope everything goes well for him and his team. And if you're one of those who lucked out on getting tickets on the first round of ticketing, we hope you get them in the next one!
