Emergency officials responding to a plane landing in the Long Island Sound
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Emergency officials from multiple towns are responding to the Long Island Sound, approximately six miles from Tweed New Haven Airport for a plane that crashed into the water.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), at 10:30 a.m. a Piper PA-32 with two occupants crashed into the Long Island Sound.
The New Haven Fire Department says the plane was on its way to Tweed when it was found submerged in the water.
The two occupants are alert and ok, said New Haven fire officials.
Branford, Guilford, East Haven, West Haven, and the Coast Guard all launched boats to assist with rescue efforts.
The FAA is investigating.
