NY GOP state headquarters defaced with Nazi symbols for second time in 2 weeks as leaders urge Dems to tone down rhetoric

The New York State Republican Party's Albany headquarters was defaced with Nazi imagery for the second time in two weeks – as party leaders blamed Democrats for escalating political tensions. The word 'Nazis' with an arrow pointed to it underneath was scribbled on the face of the building on State Street — just two blocks from the state Capitol, the GOP said in a statement Tuesday. The vandalism comes less than two weeks after printed images of the Nazi swastikas were taped to the doors and windows of the GOP building, which is also used for campaign events. State GOP chairman Ed blamed Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for stoking anti-GOP hysteria. 'Chuck Schumer, with his constant demagoguery and past calls to political violence and AOC, with her present 'Fight the Oligarchy' tour, are fueling a climate of hostility that emboldens such hateful actors. They must immediately call on their supporters to reject political violence and restore civility to our discourse,' Cox said. He said both the Albany Police department and district attorney are investigating. House GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik slammed the vandalism as a 'direct threat' to Republican staff.. 'This was not a random act of vandalism—it was an escalation of political hatred deliberately aimed at intimidating Republicans and silencing our voices,' Stefanik said. Rockland Rep. Mike Lawler called on the culprits to be prosecuted 'to the fullest extent of the law.' 'The growing calls for political violence we're seeing around the country are being fueled by Democrats like Chuck Schumer, JB Pritzker, Federica Wilson, and others, who have used reckless rhetoric and actions, calling for Republicans to 'not know a moment of peace,' saying Republicans are 'traitors,' sending paid far-left activists to disrupt events, and creating a climate of hostility that emboldens and encourages these acts,' Lawler said.

Radio talk show host running for City Council on Staten Island latest target by far-left vandals comparing Republicans to Nazis

A radio talk show host running for City Council on Staten Island became the latest New York pol targeted by far-left vandals comparing Republicans to Nazis. The hateful act was discovered Friday, after a vandal defaced one of Frank Morano's campaign lawn signs with 'NAZI SCUM' scrawled under his name, at the corner of Richmond Road and Morley Avenue. 'Any sort of vandalism, any sort of graffiti, is just horrible, but when it's this kind of hate speech, it goes beyond the pale,' said Morano, who is running in an April 29 special election to represent the borough's South Shore, following an unrelated press conference where he and other Republicans rallied in support of law enforcement. Morano, host of WABC-AM's 'The Other Side of Midnight,' said he was targeted because of his party affiliation, as upstate police search for a vandal who taped three swastikas Thursday in front of New York State Republican Party headquarters in Albany. He told The Post Saturday that having someone label him a Nazi because he's a Republican is 'insulting' and 'hurtful,' adding he believes the GOP 'is leading the way in terms of fighting against Nazism and fascism.' Staten Island Republican Michael Tannousis said the person who first discovered the latest vandalism is Jewish and a U.S. Army veteran, making the incident even more troubling. 'We will not accept this on Staten Island,' he added. The NYPD didn't return a request for comment.

Albany Republican Headquarters vandalised with swastikas

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEXSTAR) — Police are investigating after a vandal taped three swastikas to the front of the New York State Republican Party headquarters in Albany overnight. The incident took place at 315 State Street, where the Republican State Committee is based. More Local News Albany Police Department Public Information Officer Megan Craft said officers responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. and confirmed a report had been filed. No arrests have been announced, but Craft said the investigation is ongoing. The swastikas were apparently printed on standard letter-sized paper and duct-taped to the front window, the front door, and the building's front sign. A sign taped below the swastika on the door read, 'If this is not what you stand for, prove it.' A chalk message written on the sidewalk in front of the building read, 'Return Kilmar Now!' With no apparent ties to New York, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a Maryland man mistakenly deported to a prison in El Salvador under the Trump administration. The Supreme Court directed the administration to facilitate his return, though the administration insists his gang affiliations made the deportation legitimate. Abrego Garcia's lawyers argued that there is no evidence of him breaking any law. More: Latest News from Around the Tri-State The New York Republican Party has called it a vile act of political vandalism. 'We must ensure this vicious criminal who perpetrated this heinous crime be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,' said House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, rumored to be pursuing the Republican nomination for governor. 'New Yorkers haven't forgotten that New York Democrats viciously compared last year's successful Trump Madison Square Garden Rally to Nazis and called President Trump 'Hitler. Americans rejected this dangerous rhetoric and overwhelmingly elected President Trump at the ballot box. And now, less than a year later, the New York GOP Albany State headquarters was criminally vandalized with Nazi symbols.' 'This is not only an attack on our party, it is also an attack on the values of civil discourse, democracy, and decency,' party chair Ed Cox said. 'Governor Hochul, Attorney General James, and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand must speak out clearly and unequivocally regarding the rising danger of left-wing violence.' Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt condemned the act and the message behind it. 'The cowards who defaced Republican Party Headquarters with swastikas aren't just hateful—they're historically illiterate,' he said. Like Stefanik, Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay linked the vandalism to political rhetoric during the 2024 presidential campaign. 'Democrats spent months and millions calling Donald Trump 'Hitler' and predicting the end of America,' he said. 'Their strategy failed miserably at the ballot box but unfortunately managed to inspire this kind of inexcusable behavior.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Officer strikes continue at Clinton Correctional Facility

DANNEMORA, NY – At Clinton Correctional Facility, smoke from fires was filling the air as protesters tried to keep warm. It was the second day of protests at the prison, after correctional officers continued striking across two dozen prisons in New York. Wednesday afternoon Governor Kathy Hochul released a minute and a half long video statement saying that she would, 'not allow this chaos to continue.' The message was later followed by a written statement that she had signed an executive order activating the National Guard. The crowd of correctional workers, their families, and retirees say they want increased staffing, reduced mandatory overtime, improved safety and the abolishment of the HALT act, which reduces the acts of solitary confinement. 'They are here because they believe they are going to walk out of their doors and not be able to return home to their families,' said Joe Pinion, a former television host and surrogate for the New York State Republican Party. Pinion, speaking at length on the issues facing correctional officers, cited one incident that sent dozens of staff members to the hospital due to an unnamed 'substance exposure.' He says it was mishandled due to the HALT Act. HALT was a point of focus for many of today's protesters who claim they fear attacks from prisoners without accountability from the state. 'When you're scared to walk through that gate to do your job, because you don't know if you're going to come home at night to see your family, it's time for a change. This is the time,' said Carlton Rabideau, who retired from corrections in July. Rabideau, who also protested on Tuesday, says when the national guard comes, he won't stop them, but he says he believes they have been put in a difficult position. Retiree Mark Plumadore, who made his first appearance today, says he wants to fight for those still putting their life on the line. 'These guys aren't here for wages; they're here fighting for their livelihoods. It's a dangerous situation behind these walls,' he said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
