Newark Valley's Cha Gardner heading to March Madness
LAKE CHARLES, LA (WIVT/WBGH) – One time Newark Valley Cardinal Cha Gardner is heading to March Madness, as she and the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks took home the Southland Conference Championship.
The Ladyjacks finished the regular season 28-5, 16-4 in conference, and went into the Conference Tournament as the 3 seed.
In the tournament, their first game was against #7 Nicholls, where they won 77-65. In the semifinal they faced #2 Lamar to a 61-53 win, and it all came down to the championship game, against SE Louisiana, whom they had not beaten this season.
Gardner posted 1 rebound and scored 1 point in the game, and SFA is heading to the Big Dance with the 65-57 win.
