Here's how the One City Marathon will impact traffic in Newport News this Sunday
Travel on many of Newport News' major roadways will be affected Sunday as a stream of runners flow almost the entire length of the city.
The 11th annual Newport News One City Marathon is 26.2 miles and, along with the smaller races happening at the same time, will force the closure of more than 20 roads, partially close more than a dozen others, and either close or partially block more than 50 intersections throughout the city.
The marathon-related closures will begin at 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, and all will be reopened by 3 p.m., according to the city. The marathon has a seven-hour time limit and begins at 7 a.m.
