Monkeys chase terrified British tourist out of Thailand hotel pool

A British tourist found himself surrounded by a gaggle of monkeys in Thailand – and he captured the entire terrifying experience on video. Kane Smith was lounging in a hotel swimming pool about to share his first video with fans when he is immediately caught off guard by a monkey that shows up and approaches the water's edge. 'POV: One minute you're living the dream in Thailand… the next you're in a nightmare,' Smith wrote on the video that he shared on his TikTok on March 19. The clip starts with Smith lounging in a Thai hotel swimming pool. Monkeys soon begin to surround the pool and the tourist. 'Go away! Oh, my f—ing God,' he says to the creature, which stops and stares at the human in the water. 'Why is it doing that?' Smith is heard asking before the monkey is joined by several more. 'Oh my God. No. S—. Oh, s—!' the solo traveller says repeatedly as more macaque monkeys begin to surround the pool at a hotel on the island of Koh Sumui, according to Newsflare. For the most part, the first group of monkeys – including a baby and younger animals – stay away from Smith and drink water from the pool's edge. But then more monkeys – including two huge beasts – emerge from the nearby jungle-like area. 'Don't come near me,' Smith warns as the monkeys begin to approach him. It soon becomes clear to Smith that the monkeys are very curious about him and he eventually scrambles out of the pool. Two monkeys appear to chase him from the side of the pool as Smith can be heard shouting, 'No!' before screaming to try to scare them off – which causes the animals to retreat to the pool's steps. Smith screams again as he runs for dear life, with the tourist's footage resembling something out of The Blair Witch Project. 'Honestly the scariest moment of my life,' Smith captioned the video, adding an apology for all the justifiable swearing. 'Kinda thought my life was about to end,' he continued. 'Started off with one monkey and then a full gang suddenly appeared.' In a follow-up video, the traveller told his concerned followers, 'I'm here, I'm alive. I survived the monkeys.' Smith explained in another video that he 'jumped into the first room' he came upon after getting out of the pool. 'Luckily, it was open, and no one was in there,' he detailed. 'I don't know if it was like a conference room, but I jumped into the first room possible.' Smith added that he was at the rooftop pool but 'not that many people go there, and I can kind of understand why if that's a regular occurrence.'
