Kristi Noem Tries To Tell Californians How To Vote
Kristi Noem had a message for California voters on Tuesday, and it concerned California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).
Various members of Donald Trump's Cabinet addressed the media from the Oval Office about the current immigrant rights protests going on in Los Angeles and the decision to send the military to quell them.
Noem previously claimed the deployment was necessary because of Newsom's 'bad decisions,' and she used her time on Tuesday to go after him again.
'Gov. Newsom has done a disservice to the State of California for many years,' Noem said. 'The people there should never elect him into a leadership position ever again.'
Trump chimed in by saying, 'The governor's a nice guy, but he's grossly incompetent.'
Many people believed that Noem was telling Californians not to reelect Newsom as governor ― something they couldn't do anyway because of term limits.
Although some people mocked Noem on social media for seeming to ignore that Newsom can't run for California governor again, a spokesperson for Noem clarified to HuffPost that she wasn't necessarily referring to the position of governor.
'Secretary Noem made no error—her statement word-for-word was: 'People there should never elect him to a leadership position ever again,'' the spokesperson told HuffPost. 'Obviously, he could run for any other leadership position that Californians could vote for.'
Newsom has long been rumored to be considering a presidential run in 2028.
