Gordon Ramsay's LA mansion swarmed by police after swatting hoax

Listen to article Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's Los Angeles home was surrounded by armed police this week after a hoax 911 call falsely reported gunfire at his Bel-Air mansion. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed officers responded to an emergency call at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday. An unidentified caller had alleged an active shooter situation at the property. However, upon arrival, police found no disturbance. Neighbours also confirmed that no unusual activity had occurred. Ramsay, 58, was not at home during the incident. Authorities are treating the call as a 'swatting' hoax — a dangerous prank where false reports are made to prompt a large police response. No arrests have been made so far, and an investigation has been launched. The Hell's Kitchen star joins a growing list of celebrities targeted by swatting attacks. In recent months, singer Nicki Minaj and in past years actors Tom Cruise, Chris Brown, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber have also been victims of similar pranks. Swatting incidents have occasionally led to tragic outcomes. In 2017, a man in Kansas was fatally shot by police after a false hostage report. This isn't the first time Ramsay has faced crime-related incidents. Earlier this year, nearly 500 ornaments were stolen from his London restaurant, Lucky Cat, although police reportedly received no formal complaint. Despite the scare, Ramsay has remained focused on his upcoming projects, including launching his new show, Next Level Baker, on Fox later this year. Swatting remains a serious concern for both law enforcement and the victims, as the hoax calls not only waste critical resources but can also escalate into life-threatening situations. Ramsay has yet to publicly comment on the latest incident.

‘Next Level Chef' Levels Up With 2-Season Renewal, ‘Next Level Baker' Holiday Spinoff

'Next Level Chef' hasn't even gotten out of the audition stage for Season 4, but Gordon Ramsay's wildest cooking competition yet is already getting second helpings. In fact, the Fox reality show was just renewed for not one, but two more seasons — in addition to a new holiday spinoff called 'Next Level Baker.' ''Next Level Chef' consistently raises the bar of culinary excellence as a high-stakes food competition fans love, an invaluable franchise for Fox and an increasingly popular global format,' Fox president Michael Thorn said in a Thursday statement. 'Extending the reach of this series with the new holiday competition 'Next Level Baker' once again exemplifies the strength of our incredible, long-standing collaborative partnership with Gordon, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.' 'I'm delighted that 'Next Level Baker' is coming to Fox later this year. A holiday special, where passionate home cooks, more used to crafting treats for their family, will compete against social media creators; individuals who fill our feeds with photo-ready creations, side-by-side with talented professional pastry chefs, impressing with Michelin-starred perfection,' Ramsay added. 'My very first job was baking in Paris, and to me there is nothing better than the smell of freshly baked bread. I'm hoping on these holiday specials we get to discover incredible family recipes handed down through generations of bakers, inventive bakers cleverly working with dietary sensitivities and those with a talent for stunning creativity and elevated design work. This holiday season I cannot wait to discover the baking heart of America.' All four seasons of the show have been judged by chefs Nyesha Arrington, Richard Blais and Ramsay. The 'Hell's Kitchen,' 'MasterChef' and 'Kitchen Nightmares' star also executive produces the series with fellow EP Matt Cahoon. The new seasons will be produced by BiggerStage and Studio Ramsay through Studio Ramsay Global. 'Next Level Chef' airs Thursdays on Fox before streaming on Hulu.
