2025 NBA Draft: Warriors select Australian wing Alex Toohey with No. 52 overall pick
After an extended wait, the Golden State Warriors have finally made their first pick in the 2025 edition of the NBA draft. Following a trade out of the No. 41 overall selection, the Warriors landed a pair of second-round picks, starting with No. 52 overall from the Phoenix Suns.
With the No. 52 overall selection, the No. 22 pick in the second round, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Steve Kerr drafted Australian wing Alex Toohey.

The 21-year-old, 6-foot-8 forward played the last two seasons in Australia's NBL for the Sydney Kings. In 29 games in the 2024-25 season, Toohey averaged 10.6 points on 44.9% shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals in 23 minutes per game.
After the 2024-25 season, Toohey won the NBL's Next Generation Award, given to the best player under 25 years old.
After three years in the NBA Academy, Toohey committed to play for Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs in 2022. Toohey later retracted his commitment to play in the NBL Next Stars Program.
