Eddie Peng's camp denies reconciliation with Jolin Tsai
5 Jun - As rumours continue to swirl regarding Eddie Peng and Jolin Tsai's supposed rekindling of romance, Eddie's studio finally released a statement denying such a thing ever happened.
As reported on Oriental Daily, rumours of supposed reconciliation started last month, when nosy netizens decided to compare Jolin and Eddie's social media posts and claimed that the two might have been dating again for the past six years.
Some of these "evidence" include a 2019 Valentine's Day photo of Jolin placing a rose behind her ear, which came two days after an owner of a restaurant that Eddie visited also shared a photo of him holding a similarly coloured rose.
The rumours started to grow since then, with some saying that Eddie was also seen attending Jolin's concert.
In a statement to the media, Eddie's camp stated, "The content is seriously inconsistent with the facts, has not been confirmed by any of the parties involved, and has no factual basis. Most of the related reports quoted unknown sources, subjective speculation, and even spiced the plot by editing public event footage to mislead the public. Some Internet promoters and marketing accounts also took the opportunity to maliciously hype and spread these rumours, further triggering a large number of reposts and attention from the public."
Not wanting the rumour to continue to spread, Eddie's team said that they have commissioned a law firm to conduct investigation and collect evidence before initiating legal proceedings.
"Our firm will continue to pay close attention to and track those malicious acts that infringe on Mr. Peng's reputation, and will pursue the legal responsibilities of the relevant responsible persons in accordance with the law without any leniency," they added.
Eddie and Jolin reportedly had dated in 2006, but parted ways in 2009.
