Ngerandang Jalai Gawai Dayak unites Bintulu in colourful celebration of harmony
BINTULU (May 10): The 'Ngerandang Jalai Gawai Dayak' celebration has been praised as a meaningful platform to strengthen unity among Sarawak's multi-ethnic communities.
Sarawak Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Dato Majang Renggi, said the event was not only part of the Gawai Dayak festivities but also a significant effort to foster communal harmony and mutual understanding.
Majang, who is also Samalaju assemblyman, officiated the celebration at the Bintulu Civic Centre today.
He expressed appreciation for the strong community turnout and the festive atmosphere, calling it 'a testament to the state's harmonious social fabric.'
The highlight of the event was a colourful street parade that started and ended at the civic centre, covering a 3km route through town.
More than 1,200 participants took part, including government officials, NGO representatives, community leaders, and local residents.
