Man accused of shooting out officer's tire during Nicholasville Road chase
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lexington man faces numerous charges after reportedly shooting out a police cruiser's tire during an early morning chase on Nicholasville Road. The Nicholasville Police Department (NPD) announced that in the early morning hours of June 3, one of its officers was shot at and uninjured while allegedly trying to pull 23-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez Lopez over. Read more of the latest Kentucky news Lopez was reportedly seen driving 'at a high rate of speed' in the Catnip Hill Road area, pulled to the shoulder, and sped away. According to NPD, the officer followed Lopez to document the vehicle's license plate. When the two passed into Fayette County, the officer reportedly turned around and ended the pursuit. But Nicholasville police said that Lopez followed. As he passed the officer, he allegedly shot at the police cruiser, hitting the front driver-side tire and disabling the vehicle. Lopez reportedly fled into Fayette County and was located by Lexington police using 'numerous resources,' including Flock cameras. Police respond to 'emergency' at East Jessamine Middle School: ‘No gun recovered'
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Nicholasville police reported officers are on scene at East Jessamine Middle School. The Nicholasville Police Department announced on Facebook that officers were dispatched around 1 p.m. on Monday, April 28, in response to an emergency. 'There are no reported injuries at this time,' the department wrote. Nicholasville police told FOX 56 that authorities received a report of a student with a gun on campus. However, there was no gun recovered, and it's believed there never was one on campus. Nicholasville man allegedly uploaded child porn onto social media, told police it was ‘stupid'
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — On Tuesday, a Nicholasville man was charged after he allegedly admitted to uploading child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using social media apps. According to the Nicholasville Police Department (NPD), on Jan. 23, investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding four videos containing CSAM. Former UK student convicted of 4 drunken assaults denied shock probation According to the department, on Tuesday, officers carried out a search warrant in the 500 block of Hillbrook Drive to find Dylan Zabriskie, 22. Court documents show that Zabriskie allegedly confessed to using an email account that had uploaded four videos containing child sex abuse material. When officers asked Zabriskie if he knew what he was doing, he allegedly told police 'he was stupid for downloading and uploading the videos,' an arrest citation reads. Nicholasville police department honors the life and legacy of fallen officer 10 years later
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A decade ago, the Nicholasville Police Department faced the tragic death of fellow officer Burke Rhoads. All these years later, the team hasn't forgotten. Nicholasville police joined other first responders at the police headquarters to honor the life of Officer Burke Rhoads, who passed away on March 11, 2015. The Nicholasville Police Department knew Officer Rhoads well, but Melissa Mason had the chance to call him husband. She and the family came out to join the department to honor the fallen hero. Read more of the latest Kentucky news 'Today means honor, remembrance, and celebration. Celebration of life, celebration of this department, and celebration of his legacy,' Mason said. Officer Rhoads was known for his passion for fitness, something that will live on through the department's fitness center dedicated to him. With badge number 574 presented proudly, friends and family say it's like he never left. 'It was wonderful to see the kids and their expressions. Being able to see them in the fitness center knowing that was their dad and his legacy that he has left for them has been heartwarming,' Mason said. More than just his drive to stay fit and healthy, fellow officers like NPD public information officer Sam Wade said he'll also miss his guidance and leadership. 'He never hesitated to double-check what was being done to make sure the right things were being done. I called him our perfect north, our compass arrow, because he was just always making sure the right thing was being done at the right time,' Wade said. Year after year, the department still feels this loss. At the same time, they say they feel the positive impact he left on the community every day they serve. Something his wife and children would agree. Funeral arrangements set for Nicholasville police officer
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Nicholasville Police Department announced the death of one of their officers on Monday. Anthony Ruggiero served the department for nine years. Authorities said his death was 'untimely.' Nicholasville mourns following officer's 'untimely death' According to an obituary, Ruggiero passed away on Sunday at his home in Wilmore. A visitation service will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Southland Christian Church on Thursday. Ruggiero's funeral will be held at noon at the church the following day. Community first responders will join his family as they lay one of their own to rest at Camp Nelson National Cemetery following services on Friday.
