(AP Photo/Gene J. Davis hit his fourth home run of the season and second in as many games to left-center off Ranger Suarez (4-1) on a first-pitch changeup to snap a 1-1 tie. The Pirates won for the third time in four games and can sweep the three-game series on Sunday. Advertisement The Phillies' lone run came on Kyle Schwarber's 20th homer with one out in the first inning off Andrew Heaney. Philadelphia has lost eight of its last nine games after winning 12 of 13. Heaney allowed one run in six-plus innings before leaving with left calf cramping. Alec Bohm led off the seventh with a double, and Heaney exited after throwing a wild pitch. Rookie reliever Isaac Mattson (1-0) relieved with the score tied at 1-1, retired all the batters, and earned his first major-league win. David Bednar pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save. The Pirates scored in the bottom of the first when Nick Gonzales hit a leadoff triple and came home on Andrew McCutchen's single. Advertisement Suarez worked seven innings, yielding two runs and five hits. The move with Harper, a two-time National League MVP, is retroactive to Friday. Infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp's contract was purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley before the game, and he started at third base in his MLB debut, going 0 for 3. Before the game, the Pirates placed catcher Endy Rodriguez (right elbow inflammation) on the 10-day IL, recalled Mattson from Triple-A Indianapolis, purchased the contract of catcher Brett Sullivan from Triple-A, and designated left-handed reliever Joey Wentz for assignment. Key moment With a runner on third and no outs in a 1-1 game, Mattson struck out Nick Castellanos, got J.T. Realmuto to fly out, and induced pinch-hitter Bryson Stott to ground out. Advertisement Key stat Suarez has made six consecutive quality starts. Up next LHP Cristopher Sanchez (5-1, 3.15 ERA) starts for the Phillies on Sunday against RHP Paul Skenes (4-6, 2.05). ___ AP MLB:

Nick Gonzales' walk-off sac fly lifts Pirates past Phillies
June 7 - Nick Gonzales' sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth scored Adam Frazier and lifted the host Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-4 comeback win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night in a game that began late following a one-hour, 23-minute rain delay. Gonzales' walk-off RBI secured the Pirates their first win over Philadelphia this season. The Phillies played without Bryce Harper, who was not in the lineup due to a sore right wrist. The Pirates loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth on a single by Frazier, a bloop single to center by Jared Triolo and a perfectly executed bunt single by Isiah Kiner-Falefa that rolled up the third base line slowly and stopped. Phillies reliever Jordan Romano (0-3) struck out Oneil Cruz, but Gonzales lifted a fly ball that landed in the glove of Max Kepler on the warning track, allowing Frazier to walk home with the Pirates' second win in the past three games. Frazier led the Pirates at the plate with three hits while Bryan Reynolds and Henry Davis each had two hits, a home run and two RBIs. Trea Turner led the Phillies with three hits and two RBIs. The Pirates and Phillies matched each other to a 4-4 stalemate after four innings. Turner singled and then came around to score two batters later on a Nick Castellanos groundout to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. Pittsburgh answered in the bottom half when Gonzales tripled and scored on an RBI single by Reynolds. Tied at 2 in the top of the fourth, Turner drove in two more runs on a single off reliever Chase Shugart, which scored J.T. Realmuto and Edmundo Sosa. Shugart had just relieved Pirates starter Bailey Falter, who matched his shortest outing of the season, pitching 3 2/3 innings. Falter allowed four runs on five hits and two walks and struck out two on 65 pitches. But the Pirates picked up their starter, scoring two in the bottom half of the fourth inning on Davis' two-run home run. Davis entered the game in the third inning after Endy Rodriguez left the game with right elbow discomfort. Pirates reliever David Bednar (1-4) struck out the side in the ninth to keep the game tied. --Field Level Media

Pirates Nick Gonzales returns to active roster for first time since breaking his ankle in opener
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Nick Gonzales was back in the Pittsburgh Pirates starting lineup on Tuesday night for the first time since breaking his left ankle while hitting a home run on opening day in Miami on March 27. The second baseman was activated from the 60-day injured list before the opener of a three-game series with the visiting Houston Astros. Gonzales had been sidelined with a non-displaced fracture. 'It feels great, just to be out here again and see the guys,' Gonzales said before the game. 'It felt different today coming to the ballpark knowing that I'm actually playing today versus how it was the past few weeks, where there's no opportunity for me to go in the game. I couldn't even really walk around, so I'm excited to be out in the dugout just laughing with the guys and help the team win.' Gonzales, 26, played nine rehab games with Triple-A Indianapolis and hit .194. In other roster moves, right-handed reliever Kyle Nicolas was recalled from Triple-A, and infielder/outfielder Nick Solak was designated for assignment. Right-handed reliever Tanner Rainey was DFA'd on Thursday's off day when infielder Ronny Simon was claimed off waivers from Miami and optioned to Indianapolis. ___ AP MLB:
