A Documentary and Discussion about the Taliban after The U.S. Leaves Afghanistan
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Peoria World Affairs council's mission is 'to bring the world to Central Illinois'.
On March 11, they will be hosting a Documentary and Discussion event at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
The documentary is called Hollywoodgate. It shows the day-to-day life of the Taliban after the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021.
The documentary's focus is on Malawi Mansour, a top leader in the Taliban and the new air force commander. The documentary gets its name from the abandoned CIA base in Kabul, which the Taliban now overruns.
After the documentary, there will be a discussion with Dr. Nick Grossman, a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.
