Kickstand youth hub now includes the West Edmonton Primary Care Network on site

EDMONTON, Alberta, June 02, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Starting June 4, Kickstand Edmonton operated by YMCA of Northern Alberta will now offer primary healthcare services for youth at its free youth wellness services hub located in West Edmonton Mall. Young people aged 11–25 can visit Kickstand to access free and confidential mental health counselling, Indigenous wellness services, peer support, life skills training and more — and now they can visit a nurse practitioner as well. 'We're incredibly excited to welcome the West Edmonton Primary Care Network team to Kickstand Edmonton,' says Kickstand's Executive Director, Katherine Hay. 'Their presence marks a huge step forward in our mission to deliver truly integrated care for young people. Having primary care available onsite means young people can access physical and mental support all in one place — a model that reflects how community health should be delivered: connected, accessible and youth-centred.' At Kickstand, more than 20 service providers offer their free services under one roof. Since opening its doors in January of this year, the centre has helped youth find their path to a brighter future, supporting them in their mental health journey and beyond. 'The collaboration between so many service providers with a shared vision is helping young people in our community thrive,' says Nick Parkinson, President & CEO of YMCA of Northern Alberta, the organization that operates Kickstand Edmonton. 'The opening of the West Edmonton Primary Care Network helps connect their mental and social well-being to their physical health, ensuring a young person can find everything they need here to be well. We are so grateful to be able to offer their services at Kickstand.' Kickstand Edmonton is located in West Edmonton Mall, and is open Monday–Friday from 12–6pm. NFP Ground Control acquires accountancy practice Clay GBP

Ground Control Business Management, part of NFP, has entered the UK with the acquisition of Clay GBP. Established in 2014, Clay GBP offers accounting, taxation, and business advisory services, through its offices in London and the Midlands. It also offers management services for bookkeeping, bill payments, and tax preparation and planning. Additionally, Clay GBP facilitates estate planning, wealth management, and insurance services by coordinating with external resources. NFP intends to integrate Clay GBP into Ground Control's operations, renaming it as Ground Control. Clay GBP partners Richard Smethurst, Nick Parkinson, Bhavini Ratan, Ian Bailey, James Plumbly, Jasdeep Sami, and Philip Hampson will move to Ground Control, taking on the roles of managing directors. They will report to Ground Control CEO Chris Bucci. Bucci said: 'After partnering with Clay GBP for years, we're thrilled to welcome their team to NFP and expand our broad range of specialised business services internationally. 'Ground Control was started as a traditional US entertainment business management firm, and with our clients' global needs growing it made sense to add Clay GBP's tax and accounting expertise to our capabilities. 'Clay GBP's mission – which focuses on building relationships based on understanding and trust – aligns well with ours, and we look forward to collaborating for the benefit our existing clients and the broader industry.' Smethurst and Parkinson added: 'We couldn't be happier to join NFP and become part of Ground Control, one of the most prominent firms in the business management services industry. 'NFP's breadth of expertise and capabilities across risk, human capital, wealth and retirement will give us an uplevelled approach to client relations and offerings for the UK. 'We're honoured to be a part of Ground Control's international expansion and bring US-style business management services to the UK market.'
