Discover Nicky Nook on a 6-mile loop through Lancashire's rolling fells
The Forest of Bowland is one of those places it's easy to miss, passed by on the M6 en route to somewhere else. But on a recent trip we stopped and spent a few days exploring a small fraction of its 300 square miles of rolling gritstone fells and peat moorland — and made some delightful discoveries.
Wyresdale Park is a former shooting estate surrounding a grand gothic revival mansion. Since it starred in Channel 4's Country House Rescue in 2011, several of its original outhouses have been lovingly restored, including the walled garden and glasshouse, which now houses the Applestore Café.
