Hurling wrap: Mayo and Cavan advance to national finals

Mayo are into the Nicky Rackard final off the back of a comprehensive 1-32 to 1-17 win over Connacht rivals Sligo at Hastings Insurance McHale Park. Eleven of Mayo's starting team worked the scoreboard operator in an accomplished performance, which made it four wins from four for the Green and Red. Should Rosommon beat Fermanagh on Sunday it will set up a three-way shootout for the final spot, with Roscommon travelling to Louth and the other two contenders, Sligo and Armagh, facing off in Tubbercurry. Armagh beat Louth 2-15 to 0-19 on Saturday. Cavan are back in the Lory Meagher final after recording their fourth successive win in this year's competition, the latest coming away to neighbours Longford. The Ulster men ran out 3-29 to 3-17 winners in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, with Liam O'Brien notching 13 points for the visitors. Cavan now have the luxury of being assured of a spot in Croke Park heading into their final group game against neighbours to the west, Leitrim. They will face either Monaghan or Longford at headquarters, the former enjoying a 4-15 to 2-15 win over Lancashire in Abbotstown. The Christy Ring table makes handsome reading for Wicklow, who made it three wins and a draw with a 3-17 to 0-16 win over Meath in Aughrim. Derry beat Tyrone and London beat Donegal to leave just two points between the top three going into the final round of games. Wicklow travel to Celtic Park next weekend, while London will host Tyrone, hoping for the win they'll require to leapfrog either the Garden County or Derry.
