Official: Bologna Buy Nicolo Casale From Lazio
Bologna have announced that Nicolo Casale has now completed a transfer from Lazio on a permanent basis. The Background The Italian defender was joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2022 following his breakthrough season at Hellas Verona on a deal worth €8 million. The 27-year-old found success in his first season in the capital, but his form dropped the following campaign. The Obligation to Buy After a couple of disappointing appearances at the start of the current season, Casale was loaned out to Bologna on the summer transfer window's deadline day. The deal included an obligation to buy hinging on the Emilians' qualification for any European competition next season. Bologna Confirms Casale Purchase from Lazio After beating Milan to lift their first Coppa Italia trophy in 51 years, the Rossoblu secured their place in the Europa League next season, thus triggering the purchase clause. The official Bologna website has now confirmed Casale's permanent transfer through a statement. Bologna Fc 1909 announces that it has exercised the option for the definitive acquisition of Nicolò Casale from SS Lazio: the defender has signed a contract until June 30, 2028. Advertisement While the official announcement didn't disclose any figures, Calciomercato reveals that Bologna will pay a transfer fee of €6.5 million after spending €1.5 million on loan fees. Casale's Status & Numbers at Bologna Casale hasn't been able to cement himself as a regular starter in Vincenzo Italiano's lineup, as the manager still prefers the defensive partnership of Sam Beukema and Jhon Lucumi. Therefore, he has only made 14 appearances for the Rossoblu in Serie A, in addition to four in the Champions League and three in the Coppa Italia.

Casale offers worrying summary of Milan in ‘Champions League game'
Speaking after Bologna's victory against AC Milan, Nicolo Casale spoke to journalists about his side's performance, and he offered the Rossoneri a harsh welcoming back to earth. Despite questions about officiating, Milan proved, once again, why their ceiling is self-set. In a game where victory opened the door to the Champions League places, the side once again failed to excel, which has created further worry. Had the Diavolo drawn, the reaction would still have been bad, but failing to get three points has caused a bit of a meltdown, and now everyone has been left staring at a bitter reality in the face – the Rossoneri will likely, if not definitely, not play Champions League football next season. However, their opponents had prepared for the game as if it was a fixture in the illustrious European competition, as revealed by defender Casale last night, and he spoke of why the Rossoblu got the better of Milan, via Milan News. What value does this victory have? 'We knew how important this recovery was to shorten the standings. Beyond the result, I saw a Bologna that created a lot and this victory gives us the awareness that we can stay up there: we can call it a Champions League game. 'We wanted it more than they did. Their lead had created a lot of regret for us, we then equalised and won it deservedly.' What kind of victory was it for you? 'Today is a great liberation for me. I was coming from a bad year and to find myself today means a lot.'
