30 witnesses lined up in Palestinian man's kidnapping case
The High Court will also hear 17 money laundering charges against Nidarahayu Zainal involving RM205,636.32, and one charge against her husband Raibafie Amdan involving RM30,350.
KUALA LUMPUR : Prosecutors have lined up 30 witnesses to testify against 13 individuals accused of kidnapping a Palestinian man three years ago.
The accused were charged with kidnapping the man at Jalan Mayang here to force him to deactivate computer software and hack into mobile phones.
The 13 accused are Edy Koim Said, Norakmal Hassan, Dody Junaidi, Tengku Arif Bongsu Hamid, Naziree Mustapha, Faizull Hardrey Isa, Iqmal Abdul Rahis, Sufian Saly, Al-Hatim Fauzi, Raibafie Amdan, Zaidi Zain, Tengku Hazarul Ismail Hamid, and Nidarahayu Zainal.
Deputy public prosecutor Harvind Raja today informed the High Court that the witnesses include several bank officers.
'We will prepare witness statements for them,' he added.
Justice K Muniandy told the prosecution to file the statements before the next mention date on May 23.
He is set to preside over the trial, which will run from July 7 to 11.
The court will also hear a money laundering case involving Nidarahayu and her husband, Raibafie.
Nidarahayu faces 17 charges of transferring and disposing of RM205,636.32 via her CIMB account to various recipients, while Raibafie was charged with one count of receiving RM30,350 from her.
Last year, the 13 individuals were granted bail of RM50,000 with two sureties by the court.
