US 'Doomsday Plane' spotted near DC: Everything to know about the Boeing E-4B

A US Air Force E-4B aircraft landed near Washington, DC, heightening speculation as President Donald Trump weighs joining the war between Iran and Israel. The 'Nightwatch' aircraft nicknamed the presidential 'Doomsday Plane' touched down at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Tuesday night. It departed from Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, and took a very unusual flight path to arrive close to DC, i24NEWS reported. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Metro on the Boeing E-4B's mission, if it was related to the Iran-Israel conflict and whether Trump was on board. Unlike Air Force One which is known as the 'flying Oval Office', the E-4B Nightwatch is essentially a 'flying war room'. It is referred to as the Doomsday Plane because it has thermal and nuclear shielding designed to withstand nuclear blasts, and an electrical system that is immune to electromagnetic pulses. The plane has the ability to fly for 12 hours without needing to refuel. It is deployed to protect the president and senior administration officials, and is also used to transport the Secretary of Defense internationally. Beside transporting the president and top officials, the E-4B is sometimes flown for training and readiness drills. But the aircraft's irregular flight path and presence near DC the same day that Trump met with his national security advisers in the White House Situation Room boosts theories that it could be linked to the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Equipped with a command and control center to deliver military orders, the Doomsday Plane is meant to be flown in dire scenarios including ahead of a nuclear attack. The world is watching as Trump on Wednesday was cryptic on whether the US will join the war, saying, 'I may do it. I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I'm going to do.' The US Air Force has a fleet of four E-4Bs and they are all assigned to the 595th Command and Control Group at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. More Trending E-4Bs have been in operation since the Cold War. One E-4B has been staffed nonstop since 1975. It 'is on alert at all times, often traveling with the president or secretary of defense in case of emergency', according to Senator Deb Fischer of Nebraska. 'Nebraska is proud to house this remarkable fleet,' she said in a 2024 column. Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@ For more stories like this, check our news page. Patricia Arquette Made a Pact With Her Actor Ex-Husband to ‘Eat Garlic If We Had to Do Love Scenes' With Others; But Only She Followed

Patricia Arquette recently told 'Severance' co-star Adam Scott during a game of 'Hot Ones Versus' that her actor ex-husband once screwed her over after they made a pact about doing sex scenes in movies and television shows. 'I was married to somebody at the time and we were very young and impressionable people,' Arquette said. 'We made a deal that we were going to eat garlic if we had to do love scenes, so I ate garlic before I had to kiss Ewan McGregor and I'm like, 'I'm so sorry, but I told my husband I was going to have to eat some garlic.'' He's like, 'I thought we were kidding,'' she continued. 'I was like, 'What?!'' Arquette did not name her ex-husband, but the 'Hot Ones' video showed red carpet photos of her alongside Nicolas Cage. The actors were married from 1995 until 2001, and Arquette starred opposite McGregor during that time in the 1997 horror movie 'Nightwatch.' It was their first and only movie together and would've been shot during her marriage to Cage. 'Nightwatch' starred McGregor as a law student working a night job as a security guard who makes it his mission to track down a serial killer. Arquette co-starred alongside Josh Brolin, Lauren Graham and Nick Nolte. Watch Arquette and Scott's full 'Hot Ones Versus' interview in the video below. Patricia Arquette reveals why she ate garlic before her worst onscreen kiss

Patricia Arquette has named Ewan McGregor as the co-star with whom she shared her worst on-screen kiss, and revealed why it was the result of a pact with Nicolas Cage. Arquette joined her Severance co-star Adam Scott on Hot Ones Versus to either reveal details about their lives and careers or eat 'death wings'. The Boyhood star said her worst onscreen kiss was with Ewan McGregor, who she worked with in 1997's Nightwatch, but it was entirely her fault because of a pact she'd made with then-husband Nicolas Cage. 'I was married to somebody at the time and we were very young and impressionable people,' Arquette said. 'We made a deal that we were going to eat garlic if we had to do love scenes, so I ate garlic before I had to kiss Ewan McGregor and I am like, 'I'm so sorry but I told my husband I was going to have to eat some garlic.'' While Arquette did not mention Cage by name, photos of them together appeared on screen as she answered. They married in 1995 and reportedly separated nine months later, although they stayed officially married until Cage filed for divorce in 2000. Cage, however, chose not to honour the pact, Arquette said. 'Then he had to do a love scene and I'm like, 'Well, did you eat garlic?' He's like, 'I thought we were kidding,'' she said. 'I was like, 'What?!'' The Independent has reached out to representatives for Arquette and Cage for comment. Arquette is currently starring in season two of hit show Severance, where she plays Harmony Cobel, the former manager of the severed floor at Lumon. The psychological series follows a group of employees at a company called Lumon, where staff undergo a procedure called 'severance', which divides their work and home lives completely in a daring experiment to find a work-life balance. Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, and John Turturro star as employees who in season two will be facing the consequences of their rebellion against the 'severance' at the end of the first season. In a five-star review of the second season, The Independent 's Annabel Nugent wrote: 'Bottling the bolt-from-the-blue brilliance for a second season is infinitely tougher, but Severance pulls it off with style, balancing its various tones as expertly and effortlessly as a waiter during a Friday night rush. Thankfully, it is still one of the best shows on TV – certainly, one worth rushing home from the office to watch.' The first three episodes of Severance season two are available on Apple TV+. The next seven episodes will be released on Fridays until the series finale on 21 March 2025.
