Gul Panag on all things gold! Says her husband has always surprised her with the yellow metal as a gift
Gul Panag At a recent event Gul Panag was seen flaunting aviation inspired jewellry. The actress loves gems and jewels but she's drawn towards more wearable pieces. She tells us, 'I've always been drawn to jewellery that's wearable—pieces that don't just sit in a locker but actually become part of your everyday or personal style. For me, the value of jewellery comes from how seamlessly it can be worn, how it fits into your life rather than just symbolising it.' The actress who's a pilot, was enamoured seeing pieces inspired by runway and became a part of the Runway Collection launch. She said, 'As a pilot, seeing a collection that draws inspiration from aviation—necklaces, brooches, even watch charms designed around the concept of flying—felt very personal. There's something special about jewellery that speaks to your passions.' Ask her about her inclination towards gold, and the Dor actress says, 'Gold has always been a part of my life, but I wouldn't say I'm rigid about it. I also respect what gold has represented over the years, especially in Indian households—stability, tradition, even empowerment. I started working at 20, and I remember one of my first big purchases was gold in 2002. It was Rupees 3,500 for 10 grams back then. I bought a pair of earrings for Rupees 25,000. Every year, especially around Dhanteras, I'd buy something—small or big. It was my way of slowly building something valuable and meaningful.' The one person who's surprsing her with gold is her husband Nihal. 'He's firmly in the gold camp. He's been buying me gold for 20 years (since the time he has been her boyfriend). That's his thing. Birthdays, anniversaries—any occasion, and it's always gold. He sees it as a smart investment and, honestly, he's not wrong.' One of the most special pieces she owns is a polki navratan bajubandh—an armlet that was gifted to her by her parents at her wedding. 'It has a large polki in the centre surrounded by nine precious stones. It's striking, traditional, and one of my most treasured pieces—not just because of how it looks, but because of the emotion and memory attached to it,' she said. Together with her husband Nihal Pillai, she runs the beloved YouTube channel Oru Happy Family. But recently, fans noticed their reduced activity — and now, the couple has shared the deeply personal reason behind it. Diagnosed after 1.5 years of unseen pain Priya Mohan disclosed that she has been silently battling fibromyalgia — a chronic condition that causes widespread body pain, fatigue, and tenderness. For the past one and a half years, she had been experiencing occasional body pain that was often brushed off by others as simple laziness or tiredness. Nihal recalls that stress worsened her symptoms, and despite visible signs like swelling around her cheeks and eyes, they did not prioritize medical diagnosis due to their busy schedules. It wasn't until the condition escalated dramatically that they fully grasped the severity. Kerala native's zip-lining video records chilling footage of Baisaran massacre
Baisaran valley, Pahalgam KOZHIKODE: What began as a joyful afternoon zip-lining through scenic Baisaran soon turned into a scene of horror for Nihal and his family, residents of Kerala's Kozhikode. While filming a family member enjoying the ride, they inadvertently captured chilling footage of terrorists gunning down innocent people. Nihal, his cousins and the mother of one of the cousins reached the valley around 2.20pm and immediately went for the zip-lining ride. "I was waiting at the starting point and focusing on my cousin who went on the zip-line before me. It was when she reached middle of ride that I heard a gunshot. I thought it was the sound of crackers, only to notice a man 100m away holding a weapon and a woman lying on the ground. It was then that I realised that something was seriously wrong," said Nihal. He said his cousin and her mother, by then at the other end of the zip-line, fled along with other people as gunshots shattered the serenity of the beautiful meadow. Nihal said a local woman told him to escape fast, and he, along with his other cousin, climbed over a fence and ran down the slopes. On reaching a safe spot downhill, he came to know that a local Kashmiri resident had provided shelter to his cousin and her mother in his house. He then travelled around 2km to reach them. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo But it was only later when Nihal examined the video that he noticed chilling images of a terrorist shooting tourists in the background.
