There are several films in Bollywood that have landed in legal controversy prior its release. Today, we will talk about one such movie that really underwent through trouble seas, and dealt with 34 legal cases. Despite being in bad publicity, the film did exceedingly well and turned out to be a box office hit. Released in 1982, the film we are referring to is BR Chopra's Nikaah . Starring Raj Babbar, Deepak Parashar, and Salma Agha, the film was based on the concept of triple Talaq. According to IMDB, the film was initially titled, Talaq Talaq Talaq. However, the makers later changed it to Nikaah. During that time, the film as well as the storyline didn't settle well with the certain section of Muslims, and as a result the makers of Nikaah faced shocking 34 court cases. Many people intervened during the screening, and asked to stop the film. While, some just threw the posters out on the road in anger. Not just this, lead actress Salma Agha was threatened and harassed. There were several outrageous letters sent to her, warning to leave India and move back to London. Despite all the controversy, the film did surprisingly well and became a box office success. Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore, Nikaah earned Rs 9 crore, making a 225% of profit. The success of the film catapulted Salma to overnight stardom, leading to several offers for many other films. Other than Salma, Raj Babbar, and Deepak Parashar, the cast also consisted of Tanuja, Hina Kausar, Iftekhar and Asrani. Those who wish to watch the film, you can catch it on YouTube, Hotstar or Amazon Prime. Nikaah is surely way ahead of its time, showcasing a quite bold theme out and out.

When Raj Babbar admitted being in a relationship with Rekha after Smita Patil's demise: 'We drifted together because of..."

Raj Babbar has always been a man of many talents, an actor, a politician, and someone who lived life with intensity both on and off the screen. He began his acting career in 1977 with the film 'Kissa Kursi Ka' and quickly made his mark. Trained at the NSD, Raj stunned audiences with his bold performance as the villain in 'Insaaf Ka Taraazu'. He went on to impress further in films like 'Nikaah' and 'Aaj Ki Awaz', where he starred alongside Smita Patil . But just like his career, Raj's personal life also made headlines, especially the love and loss he experienced during the most turbulent years of his life. After the tragic demise of his second wife, Smita Patil. A love story that challenged norms In 1975, Raj Babbar married Nadira Zaheer. The two had a strong connection and went on to have two children, Juhi Babbar and Arya Babbar. But life took a surprising turn when Raj met the charismatic and fearless actress Smita Patil on the sets of 'Bheegi Palkein'. Raj was completely taken in by Smita's charm. Her beauty, intelligence and presence swept him off his feet. Even though he was already married, Raj couldn't stop himself from falling in love again, and eventually got married. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Their decision made them the talk of the town. While many criticised Raj for leaving Nadira, others judged Smita for being a 'homewrecker'. But for Raj and Smita, love meant everything. They faced the world together, boldly and unapologetically. A heartbreaking loss In 1986, tragedy struck. Smita passed away due to complications during childbirth. Her death was sudden and devastating, not just for Raj, but also for her fans. The couple had just welcomed their baby boy, Prateik Babbar , into the world when Smita breathed her last. As reported by BollywoodShaadis, Raj was shattered. His world had collapsed. Amid this deep emotional pain, Raj found comfort in someone who, like him, was also dealing with her own heartbreak, the legendary actress Rekha. When Raj found comfort in Rekha It was during this lonely and painful time that Raj and Rekha grew close. In an old interview reported by IBTimes, Raj confessed, 'Yes, our relationship helped me in a way. We drifted together because of certain circumstances. At that time, Rekha had broken off from a long-standing relationship.' Their connection came from shared experiences of hurt, confusion, and the need for emotional healing. Though short-lived, it was real in its own way. Raj further explained the nature of their relationship, saying, 'I was not as involved with Rekha as I was with Smita. The intensity wasn't there. At the same time I cannot say that we were friends.' Despite their strong bond, Raj and Rekha's relationship didn't last. Both realised it started from a place of heartbreak and wasn't built to last. Raj Babbar, still married with children, chose to go back to his first wife, Nadira. This decision deeply upset Rekha, leaving her heartbroken and struggling to move on. The relationship, born from difficult times, couldn't survive Raj's decision to return to his family, leaving Rekha to face the pain of another ending. This actor and his wife were superstars in Bollywood, but their son and daughter became huge flops, their names are...

In today's era of Bollywood, the industry has seen various actors making their way, and the majority of them are from a background of actors and actresses. The word nepotism is not new in the industry, and there has been a long-form debate on the same. However, there are times when daughters and sons of famous superstars fail to impress the audience despite their parents being fan favourites. A similar case happened with the actors we are going to discuss today. These two actors have been the most celebrated of their times. However, their kids couldn't do big on the big screen. The actors we are talking about are the iconic stars Raj Babbar and Nadira Babbar. These two actors have been a part of hit films such as Nikaah, Insaaf Ka Tarazu, Prem Geet, Ghayal, Samandar, Khandaani, Jai Ho. While both these actors are iconic figures in the Bollywood industry, their kids — Juhi Babbar and Arya Babbar — never succeeded. Juhi Babbar's Magic Did Not Work The elder daughter of Raj and Nadira Babbar — Juhi Babbar — worked in Bollywood and TV. She featured in small roles in movies like Reflection, Aiyaary, Faraaz, Kaash Aap Hamare Hote. However, her films never did big on the big screens, and neither was her performance liked by the audience. As a result, the tag of a non-performer came to her despite coming from a house of top actors. Arya Babbar Gave a Shot but Failed Raj's son Arya Babbar made his debut in 2002 with the film Ab Ke Baras. The movie turned out to be a huge flop and could not even recover its budget. Over the years, Arya appeared in movies like Jatts in Golmaal, Naughty Jat, Paapi Ek Satya Katha, however, all of them were huge flops. As a result, Arya was also not liked as an actor by the audience. However, it was just Prateik Babbar, the son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patil, who was able to establish himself as an actor. He appeared in small but important roles in films like Brahmastra, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Mulk, Baaghi-2, Dhobi Ghat, Chhichhore. His acting was appreciated, but he was mostly limited to supporting roles.

Top court refuses to hear contempt plea, BJP MP responds with 'Dil Ke Armaan' dig

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea seeking initiation of contempt of court action against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who recently targeted the Chief Justice and the top court after its order on the powers of the President and Governors. After the court's dismissal of the plea, Dubey quoted a popular song from the 1982 film, Nikaah, to taunt the petitioner. advertisementThe petitioner, Vishal Tiwari, sought contempt of court against Dubey for his remarks against Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and the Supreme Court in a recent interview. However, the top court, despite refusing to hear the plea, said it would pass a reasoned order in the matter, legal news portal Bar and Bench reported."The dignity of the institution has to be protected. It cannot go like this. Earlier, the court took note of the Delhi judicial services case," Tiwari said. To this, CJI Khanna remarked, "We will be passing a short order. We will give some reasons. We will not be entertaining it but we will give a short this, Dubey mocked the petitioner and wrote on X, "Dil ke armaan aansuon mein beh gaye", which roughly translates to 'all hopes washed away in tears'.advertisementDuring a recent interview with news agency ANI, Dubey triggered a massive controversy, blaming CJI Khanna for "all civil wars in the country". The remarks were made after the Supreme Court mooted a pause in the recently enacted Waqf (Amendment) also criticised the top court for intervening in laws enacted by Parliament, questioning the judiciary's role in legislative matters. "If the Supreme Court has to make laws, then Parliament should be shut down." Following this, he spoke to news agencies and said, "The Supreme Court is going beyond its limits," the BJP MP plea by Tiwari alleged that Dubey's remarks in the interview were derogatory towards the judiciary and Supreme Court, according to the Bar and Bench."Such acts amount to an Offence punishable under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and also under Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Acts, 1971," it plea argued that political parties and leaders were not sparing the judiciary and judges over hate speech and provocative remarks. It sought initiation of contempt of court proceedings against Dubey for the Dubey's remarks came after two key Supreme Court interventions. In one, a bench led by CJI Khanna grilled the Centre over the contentious Waqf (Amendment) Act. In the other, the top court told governors to stop sitting on state bills, setting timelines for assent and warning against political BJP, however, distanced itself from Dubey's criticism of the Supreme Court and judiciary, with party chief JP Nadda calling the comments his personal InTrending Reel IN THIS STORY#Supreme Court#Bharatiya Janta Party#Nishikant Dubey

Watch: Shoaib Malik questions 'mindset' of Pakistani team, sings Bollywood song

The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash yesterday saw India dominate their rivals comprehensively. In doing so, they all but eliminated Pakistan from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The disappointment among Pakistanis and its cricketing fraternity was evident. Cricketer-turned pundit Shoaib Malik expressed his emotions in a unique way—by singing Dil Ke Arman Ansuon Men Bah Gaye from the film Nikaah. A video shared by ex-Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on social media showed Malik responding to the match result with the song when asked about Pakistan's performance. Fellow former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez, also present in the video, reacted with a remorseful smile. 'Today's state of affairs explained by Shoaib Malik,' Akhtar captioned the post, which quickly gained traction on social media. Shoaib Malik's criticism of Pakistani team Malik was also very strong in his criticism of Pakistan's national team, questioning the team's mindset after the defeat to India. "Our players have 0 international exposure," said Malik. "As a nation, we look for a shoulder (for support)." Malik used the example of Pakistan's middle-overs when discussing his criticism of individuals not taking responsibility within the team.
