Man gets 5-year RI for molesting 8-year-old

agpur: Nikhil Nikose, a 26-year-old resident of Wadi has been convicted for molesting an 8-year-old girl, and awarded rigorous imprisonment of five years and a fine of Rs4,000.
Nikose was pronounced guilty on June 13 by judge RP Pandey of the district and sessions court.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a 30-year-old lady at Wadi police station on April 23, 2022. According to the complaint, the complainant and her daughter had gone to attend a relative's engagement ceremony when the accused lured the eight-year-old victim away on the pretext of feeding her ice cream, and molested her. Following the complaint, the cops arrested the accused the next day under the
Pocso Act
.
Based on evidence and witnesses presented, the court found Nikose guilty and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment of five years under Section 10 of Pocso, and Section 363 of IPS, along with a total fine of Rs4,000. If the accused fails to pay the fine, he will undergo additional imprisonment of four months.
