The reason a BBC film crew is in Birmingham right now

Read More: The 'hidden gem' Birmingham takeaway which has become a TikTok favourite The reason why a film crew is in Birmingham is because they were filming a new season of Silent Witness. The BBC crime drama, which first aired in 1996, is in the city to film its 29th season and it's expected to air early next year. Silent Witness is a show about forensic pathologists and their personal and professional challenges moving from crime scene to lab. The previous season of Silent Witness saw fan favourites Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson get married and ended on a cliffhanger. St. Paul's Church is not the only Birmingham location planned as crew confirmed the city will be used as a predominant filming location in Season 29. In 2023, the BBC announced future seasons of Silent Witness would be filmed in the West Midlands as a commitment to produce outside of London.
