During his first 12 games, he didn't record a single point. He has been dealing with a few injuries this season and health concerns surrounding his newest child, born at the end of October 2024. Things are going great for Perron now, particularly on the ice. Red Wings Organization Trades for Nikolai Knyzhov While the trade deadline has come and gone at the NHL level, the same restriction is not in place in the AHL, where the deadline won't hit until the 14th of March. As such, the Red Wings organization swung a deal to acquire left-handed defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for now more than "future considerations." 3 Special Red Wings Prospects That Are Untouchable Can The Red Wings Make The Playoffs? Over his last six games, he has one of the best stat lines on the Ottawa Senators. Perron has recorded three goals and two assists, for five points. He's also recorded 11 hits while averaging 14:40 of ice time per game. The only Senators with more points in that time are Jake Sanderson, Drake Batherson, and Brady Tkachuk. In Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, he skated on a line with Dylan Cousins and Batherson. Perron scored his fifth goal of the season at 12:16 of the second period to tie the game 2-2. The Senators defeated the Maple Leafs 4-2. Perron had one goal, two shots, and two hits in 14:04. He now has 10 points this season, averaging 13:38 of ice time. Perron is heating up at the right time, which should make Senators fans happy. The Senators hold the top Wild Card position. With the regulation win over Toronto, they are only four points behind them in the standings. This has made the Wild Card picture more competitive in the Eastern Conference. With the Senators pulling ahead, it's a dogfight for the final playoff position. The Red Wings are behind the New York Rangers by four points but also have a game in hand. Red Wings Organization Trades for Nikolai Knyzhov

While the trade deadline has come and gone at the NHL level, the same restriction is not in place in the AHL, where the deadline won't hit until the 14th of March. As such, the Red Wings organization swung a deal to acquire left-handed defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for now more than "future considerations." . @CopperRockGR Building Strong Update: The Griffins acquired defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov from the @WBSPenguins in exchange for future considerations #GoGRGDETAILS >> — Grand Rapids Griffins (@griffinshockey) March 11, 2025 Red Wings Stymied by Ullmark in Ottawa, Fall 2–1 to Senators Top Red Wings Prospect Sets SHL Record Red Wings Announce Plans for Five Games to Air on FOX 2 Detroit Bookmark The Hockey News Detroit Red Wings team site to stay connected to the latest news, game-day coverage, and player features. Knyzhov has two goals and five assists for seven points this season with Wilkes-Barre in 14 games, along with 19 penalty minutes. He's also played six games for the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, picking up one assist in those games. Before this season, Knyzhov played 81 games split across for seasons in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks between 2019 and 2024. In those games, he totaled three goals, nine assists, and 55 PIMs, while averaging 16:33 of ice time. Considering his history, Knyzhov does not project as an especially serious prospect for the Red Wings, though considering he does have NHL experience he could be an emergency call-up in a pinch somewhere down the line. More realistically, he will provide a bit of help for Grand Rapids in its push toward the Calder Cup playoffs. Given that there was no cost to the acquisition, the deal is as clear cut of a 'no risk' move as a team could possibly swing. Meanwhile, the Griffins offered a tongue-in-cheek moment of appreciation for the considerations they acquired to acquire Knyzhov: Grand Rapids Griffins (@griffinshockey) on X Thank you, Future Considerations! We wish you all the best with the @WBSPenguins 👊 #GoGRG As for Knyzhov's GR debut, the Griffins host the Hartford Wolf Pack Wednesday, then the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday, before traveling to Rockford to play the IceHogs Saturday. Presumably, one of those three games will see Knyzhov make his debut for the Red Wings organization. Never miss a story by adding us to your Google News favorites.
